Job summary

Stack and Co in Galway is seeking an experienced IT Field Service Engineer to support a portfolio of business clients across Galway and surroundings. You will diagnose and resolve IT issues on-site, with strong focus on Microsoft 365, Windows Server and network infrastructure.

The role is client-facing and requires travelling to client sites, ownership of issues, and delivering proactive IT support across MSP environments. A full Irish driving licence and fluent English are essential.

Qualifications

• 3+ years' experience as IT Field Service Engineer within an MSP.
• Experience supporting multiple external business clients across IT environments.
• Strong Microsoft 365 administration and troubleshooting experience.
• Commercial experience supporting Windows Server.
• Strong Windows desktop, laptop and endpoint troubleshooting skills.
• Good networking knowledge including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs.
• Experience supporting or configuring business firewalls such as SonicWall, Fortinet, Sophos or similar.
• Experience travelling to client sites and dealing with business users.
• Ability to troubleshoot independently and take ownership of issues.
• Good documentation and workload management skills.
• Clear and professional spoken and written English.
• A full Irish driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Visit customer sites to diagnose and resolve IT issues.
• Support multiple MSP clients and technical environments.
• Provide Level 2 technical support with exposure to Level 3 issues.
• Support Microsoft 365 including Exchange Online and SharePoint.
• Support Azure and Microsoft cloud environments.
• Troubleshoot Windows desktops, laptops and Windows Server.
• Install and configure servers and infrastructure within live client environments.
• Diagnose LAN, WAN, DNS, DHCP, VPN and general networking issues.
• Configure and support SonicWall or similar firewalls.
• Contribute to installations, upgrades, migrations and client projects.
• Keep technical documentation and client information up to date.
• Communicate with end users, client managers and internal teams.
• Take issues from diagnosis to resolution.

Do you enjoy the variety of MSP work and prefer being out with clients rather than sitting at the same desk supporting the same environment every day?

We are working with an established IT services business that is adding an experienced IT Field Service Engineer to its Galway team.

You will support a range of business clients across Galway and the surrounding area, working hands-on with Microsoft 365, Windows Server, networking, firewalls, endpoints and infrastructure.

This is a client-facing field engineering role, so you need to be comfortable arriving onsite, understanding the problem, troubleshooting it properly and taking responsibility for getting it resolved.

Previous MSP field engineering experience is essential.

WHAT WE NEED

You must have:

• 3+ years' experience working as an IT Field Service Engineer within an MSP
• Strong experience supporting multiple external business clients across different IT environments
• Good Microsoft 365 administration and troubleshooting experience
• Commercial experience supporting Windows Server
• Strong Windows desktop, laptop and endpoint troubleshooting skills
• Good networking knowledge including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs and general network troubleshooting
• Experience supporting or configuring business firewalls such as SonicWall, Fortinet, Sophos or similar
• Experience travelling to client sites and dealing directly with business users
• The ability to troubleshoot independently and take ownership of technical issues
• Good documentation and workload management skills
• Clear and professional spoken and written English
• A full Irish driving licence

You must also be currently living in Galway City or County Galway, or very close to Galway.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

You will provide onsite IT support and project assistance across a portfolio of business clients.

Your work will include:

• Visiting customer sites to diagnose and resolve IT issues
• Supporting multiple MSP clients and technical environments
• Providing Level 2 technical support with exposure to more complex Level 3 issues
• Supporting Microsoft 365 including Exchange Online, SharePoint and related services
• Supporting Azure and Microsoft cloud environments
• Troubleshooting Windows desktops, laptops and Windows Server
• Installing and configuring servers and infrastructure within live client environments
• Diagnosing LAN, WAN, DNS, DHCP, VPN and general networking issues
• Supporting and configuring SonicWall or similar business firewalls
• Working on installations, upgrades, migrations and other client projects
• Keeping technical documentation and client information accurate and up to date
• Communicating directly with end users, client managers and internal technical teams
• Taking technical issues from initial diagnosis through to resolution
