Job summary

Turner Lovell is recruiting a GIS Installation & Commissioning Engineer in Hybrid Ireland to lead the safe installation, testing, commissioning and energisation of GIS systems on transmission and distribution projects across Ireland.

The ideal candidate will have substations experience at 38/110/220kV, relay programming skills, and a track record in delivering technical reports and fault analysis within the power sector.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare and coordinate pre-commissioning / commissioning / start-up activities leading to project completion.
  • Develop and ensure adherence to a detailed commissioning schedule and plan, covering pre-commissioning and handover.
  • Prepare and update a comprehensive commissioning manual; develop reporting structure and team accountabilities.
  • Plan and coordinate commissioning/start-up with third party providers; develop pre-commissioning test procedures and documentation; ensure compliance and progress reporting.
  • Liaise with government agencies to obtain approvals and secure client sign-off.

Location: Hybrid, Ireland

Scope of Work: A key role in a growing team that will be responsible for the safe installation, testing, commissioning, and energisation of High Voltage Circuit Breakers & Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) systems on transmission and distribution projects across Ireland.

Turner Lovell is recruiting a GIS Installation & Commissioning Engineer to join a global leader in sustainable energy and power grid technologies in Ireland, offering a fantastic opportunity for the right individual to join the leader in their specialism You will join the existing team in delivering installation, commissioning, maintenance & repair services to Industrial & Utility customers throughout Ireland & Northern Ireland.

Your key responsibilities in the role will include:

  • Plan, prepare and coordinate pre-commissioning / commissioning / start-up activities leading to project completion.
  • Develop and ensure adherence to a detailed commissioning schedule and plan, covering all aspects of pre-commissioning and start-up phases through to handover.
  • Prepare and / or update a comprehensive commissioning manual. Develop a reporting structure and accountabilities for the commissioning team.
  • Plan and coordinate the commissioning / start up schedule and necessary work with third party providers. Develop pre-commissioning test procedures and documentation. Correct any deficiencies found. Ensure compliance and progress reports are produced in accordance with client and legislative requirements.
  • Liaise with government agencies where required to obtain necessary approvals prior to start-up. Prepare client acceptance forms and ensure satisfactory sign-off is obtained.

The ideal profile is someone who has:

  • Electrical Substation experience on 38 / 110 / 220kV equipment.
  • Relay programming experience with a strong background in the power sector service & maintenance,
  • Experience in delivering technical reports and fault analysis. Maintain Maintenance Management System, complete all customer fault reports & commissioning documentation where required in a timely manner.
  • An ability to work under pressure and on your own initiative.
  • An OEM-recognised GIS certification would be great addition to CV for this role.
