Job summary

Turner Lovell in Ireland is seeking an Installation & Commissioning GIS Engineer for a Hybrid role. You will join a growing team delivering safe installation, testing, commissioning and energisation of High Voltage GIS systems on transmission and distribution projects.

The ideal candidate has electrical substation experience (38/110/220kV), relay programming skills, and a track record delivering technical reports and fault analyses, supporting pre-commissioning through handover and client

Qualifications

• Electrical Substation experience on 38/110/220kV equipment.
• Experience with relay programming in the power sector service & maintenance.
• Experience delivering technical reports and fault analyses. Maintenance Management System activities.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and coordinate pre-commissioning / commissioning / start-up activities leading to project completion.
• Develop and ensure adherence to a detailed commissioning schedule and plan, from pre-commissioning to handover.
• Prepare and/or update commissioning manual and establish a reporting structure for the team.
• Coordinate commissioning with third-party providers; develop test procedures and documentation; address deficiencies.
• Obtain government approvals and client sign-off prior to start-up.

Installation & Commissioning GIS Engineer

A key role in a growing team that will be responsible for the safe installation, testing, commissioning, and energisation of High Voltage Circuit Breakers & Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) systems on transmission and distribution projects across Ireland. Turner Lovell is recruiting a GIS Installation & Commissioning Engineer to join a global leader in sustainable energy and power grid technologies in Ireland, offering a fantastic opportunity for the right individual to join the leader in their specialism You will join the existing team in delivering installation, commissioning, maintenance & repair services to Industrial & Utility customers throughout Ireland & Northern Ireland.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and coordinate pre-commissioning / commissioning / start-up activities leading to project completion.
• Develop and ensure adherence to a detailed commissioning schedule and plan, covering all aspects of pre-commissioning and start-up phases through to handover.
• Prepare and / or update a comprehensive commissioning manual. Develop a reporting structure and accountabilities for the commissioning team.
• Plan and coordinate the commissioning / start up schedule and necessary work with third party providers. Develop pre-commissioning test procedures and documentation. Correct any deficiencies found. Ensure compliance and progress reports are produced in accordance with client and legislative requirements.
• Liaise with government agencies where required to obtain necessary approvals prior to start-up. Prepare client acceptance forms and ensure satisfactory sign‑off is obtained.

Ideal Profile

• Electrical Substation experience on 38 / 110 / 220kV equipment.
• Relay programming experience with a strong background in the power sector service & maintenance,
• Experience in delivering technical reports and fault analysis. Maintain Maintenance Management System, complete all customer fault reports & commissioning documentation where required in a timely manner.
• An ability to work under pressure and on your own initiative.
• An OEM-recognised GIS certification would be great addition to CV for this role.
