Job summary

National Vehicle Distribution is seeking a skilled Hydraulic Technician to inspect, diagnose and repair complex multi-deck hydraulic lifting and loading systems on car transporters, ensuring safe operation and efficiency.

You will perform scheduled maintenance, replace worn components, and document service repairs while complying with lifting regulations. The role suits hands-on engineers with 2–3 years of heavy hydraulics experience; on-site work with shift patterns including weekends may apply.

Qualifications

• Vocational qualification in mechanical engineering.
• Minimum 2–3 years handling heavy hydraulics.
• Direct experience with multi-deck car hauliers.

Responsibilities

• Diagnostics & repairs of hydraulic systems.
• Troubleshoot hydraulic failures and replace worn components.
• Replace damaged high-pressure hoses and fix valves.
• Inspect PTO issues and perform routine maintenance.
• Calibrate deck pressure settings and ensure safety compliance.
• Maintain service logs and ensure regulatory adherence.

• Full Time - 06:00 to 14:30 (13:30 Friday) and 09:30 to 18:00 (17:00 Friday)
• with a requirement for Saturday morning (06:00 to 11:00) when required.

Job Summary

The Hydraulic Technician is responsible for inspecting, maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing the complex multi-deck hydraulic lifting and loading systems on car-transporting vehicles to ensure operational safety and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnostics & Repairs
• Troubleshoot hydraulic system failures.
• Repair leaking cylinders and rams.
• Replace damaged high-pressure hoses.
• Fix faulty control valves.
• Diagnose Power Take-Off (PTO) issues.
• Routine Maintenance
• Conduct scheduled hydraulic safety inspections.
• Flush and replace hydraulic fluids.
• Clean and change system filters.
• Lubricate moving mechanical joints.
• Calibrate deck pressure settings.
• Safety & Compliance
• Ensure compliance with lifting regulations.
• Test emergency stop mechanisms.Verify load-holding check valves work.
• Maintain accurate service repair logs.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Technical Skills
• Mastery of hydraulic schematics and diagrams.
• Expertise in high-pressure fluid systems.
• Proficiency using hydraulic pressure gauges.
• Basic welding and fabrication skills.
• Knowledge of commercial vehicle electronics.
• Experience & Education
• Vocational qualification in mechanical engineering.
• Minimum 2–3 years handling heavy hydraulics.
• Direct experience with multi-deck car hauliers (e.g., Rolfo Belle, Kassborrher Lohr, Transporter Engineering).

Physical Demands

• Ability to work at heights.
• Capacity to lift to 25 kg.
• Comfort working in outdoor weather.
