Job summary

Hitachi Energy Ireland is seeking an Apprentice Service Electrician for a four-year apprenticeship, spanning LV/MV/HV systems and critical power infrastructure across Ireland. The programme extends beyond installation to include transformers, substations, protection systems, diagnostics, and customer support.

You will study Year 1–Electrical Foundations, Year 2–Service and Maintenance, Year 3–Advanced Field Engineering, and Year 4–High Voltage Specialisation, while gaining hands-on experience

Qualifications

Minimum A Level in Mathematics, Physics or Engineering subjects.
Leaving Certificate or equivalent.
Willingness to travel throughout Ireland.
Full Driving Licence if required.
Interest in renewable energy and power transmission.

Responsibilities

Assist with maintenance and servicing of High Voltage, Medium Voltage and Low Voltage equipment.
Support commissioning and testing activities.
Participate in transformer inspections and diagnostics.
Support substation maintenance activities.
Assist with protection and control system testing.
Learn fault-finding and troubleshooting techniques.
Prepare service reports and technical documentation.
