Job summary

Sigmar Recruitment has partnered with a growing electrical contractor to recruit a High Voltage Electrician for projects in Newbridge, Co. Kildare.

You will install, maintain and test HV equipment in substations and related infrastructure, reading drawings, following safety procedures and working both independently and as part of a team. On-site travel to sites is required and ongoing training is provided. A recognised electrical qualification and Safe Pass are essential.

Qualifications

• A recognised electrical qualification is essential.
• Experience working as an electrician's assistant is beneficial.
• Strong fault-finding and reading drawings required.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out installation, maintenance and repair works on HV equipment and substation systems.

Due to continued growth and ongoing project requirements, they are currently seeking an experienced High Voltage Electrician to join their team in Newbridge, Co. Kildare.

About Your New Job

As a High Voltage Electrician, you will be responsible for carrying out installation, maintenance, testing and repair works on high voltage electrical systems within substations and associated electrical infrastructure. You will work as part of a professional team, ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently and to the required technical standards.

Your main responsibilities will include:

• Carrying out installation, maintenance and repair works on HV electrical equipment and substation systems.
• Working on transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, isolators and associated electrical equipment.
• Carrying out inspections, testing and fault-finding on high voltage electrical systems.
• Carrying out cable installation, termination and testing as required.
• Reading and interpreting electrical drawings, schematics and technical documentation.
• Carrying out planned and preventative maintenance on substation equipment.
• Identifying electrical faults and carrying out repairs in a safe and efficient manner.
• Adhering to all health & safety procedures and wearing the appropriate PPE at all times.

What Skills You Need

To be successful in this role, you should have:

• A recognised electrical qualification and experience working as an electrician's assistant.
• Experience working with HV switchgear, transformers, circuit breakers and associated equipment.
• Strong electrical fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics.
• A good understanding of electrical safety, isolation procedures and safe systems of work.
• Safe Pass certification (essential).
• Manual Handling certification (essential).
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• A reliable, proactive and hardworking attitude with strong attention to detail.
• Flexibility to work on-site and travel to other locations when required.
