Job summary

Hitachi Energy Ireland Limited is seeking a qualified Electrician, Electrical Technician, or engineering graduate to support the operation, maintenance, and reliability of the East West Interconnector across Ireland and the UK.

Based mainly at the Portan HVDC Converter Station, Red Road, Batterstown, Co. Meath, the role includes on-call duties, inspections, testing, and troubleshooting of electrical power systems, with opportunities for specialist HVDC training and international collaboration.

Qualifications

• Qualified Electrician, Electrical Technician, or Engineering graduate.
• Experience working with electrical power systems or industrial electrical equipment.
• Ability to interpret electrical drawings and technical documentation.
• Experience using electrical testing and diagnostic equipment.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Full driving licence and willingness to travel when required.
• Ability to participate in a 24/7 on-call rota.

Responsibilities

• Support the safe and reliable operation of the East West Interconnector.
• Perform inspections, testing, and preventative maintenance activities.
• Support commissioning, upgrade, and outage activities.
• Provide technical support to customers and site teams.
• Complete maintenance records and technical reports.
• Contribute to root cause investigations and continuous improvement initiatives.
