Job summary

Hitachi Energy is seeking a skilled electrician, technician, or engineering graduate to support the operation and maintenance of the East West Interconnector. Based near Portan HVDC Converter Station, Red Road, Batterstown, Co.

Meath, you will help ensure reliable power transmission across Ireland, the UK, and beyond. This role offers specialist HVDC training, hands-on diagnostic work, and opportunities to develop within a global technology leader.

Qualifications

• Qualified Electrician, Electrical Technician, or Engineering graduate.
• Experience working with electrical power systems or industrial electrical equipment.
• Ability to interpret electrical drawings and technical documentation.
• Experience using electrical testing and diagnostic equipment.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Full driving licence and willingness to travel when required.
• Ability to participate in a 24/7 on-call rota.

Responsibilities

• Support the safe and reliable operation of the East West Interconnector.
• Perform inspections, testing, and preventative maintenance activities.
• Support commissioning, upgrade, and outage activities.
• Provide technical support to customers and site teams.
• Complete maintenance records and technical reports.
• Contribute to root cause investigations and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support knowledge sharing and technical development within the wider team.
