Head of Design: Lead a High-Impact Global Design Team

Job summary

Primark Stores Limited in Dublin is seeking a Head of Design to shape the department’s vision and lead a team of Designers, including Assistants and Trainee Designers, delivering trend-led products across markets.

You will work with Buying and Merchandising to sign off monthly product plans, foster a high-performance design culture, and manage budgets to maximise profit and customer impact.

Qualifications

• 10 years in a Design role with at least 5 years in a management position.
• Experience in a global/International retailer preferable.
• Demonstrated experience in the implementation and execution of Design strategies and plans.
• The ability to effectively manage complex tasks and prioritise multiple projects and competing priorities.
• Strong leadership skills, with the ability to coach, guide and mentor while ensuring the team achieves its goals.
• Strong creative vision and ability to foster a culture of creativity within your team.
• Outstanding written and interpersonal communication skills.
• Experience in creating a high-performance culture through target setting, performance evaluation and employee engagement.
• Demonstrated experience creating effective relationships across the business, with prior experience of relationship management at Executive levels.
• Demonstrated ability to develop a culture that embraces innovation, and challenges existing ways of working without compromising business performance.
• Experience managing 3rd party suppliers and Freelancers.

Responsibilities

• Design Vision & Strategy: Translate priorities to the Design team and stakeholders with clear metrics.
• Product Design: Oversee trends translation into commercially successful products.
• Leadership: Build and mentor a high-performing team and set goals.
• Collaboration: Partner with Buying/Merchandising to deliver monthly product sign-off and unify the Design voice across departments.
