Ómós is a 16-bedroom guesthouse and 40-seat restaurant near Abbeyleix, Co. Laois. The Guesthouse Porter role ensures safety and security, supports housekeeping and front-of-house operations, and covers day and night shifts under the Night Manager.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Maintain the cleanliness of all areas of the Guesthouse and surrounding areas
• Support the maintenance of the ground floor and public areas
• Ensure all procedures regarding fire and safety are followed
• Check in and out of Guests when required
• Manage the security of luggage and porterage
• Oversee the front entrance and exterior areas to keep them clean and tidy
• Set up the breakfast area of the Guesthouse as per guidelines
• Assist Guesthouse Assistants in preparing for check outs
• Complete nightly tasks as per checklist
• Deputise for Night Manager when required
• Back of house tasks such as laundry and waste
• Assist with honesty bar drinks service
• Maintain and restock fires
• Sauna preparation and servicing
• Update guest room bills for beverage charges
• Handover to the Night Manager

Guesthouse Porter

Ómós is a 16-bedroom guesthouse and 40-seat restaurant set on 4.2 acres just outside the heritage town of Abbeyleix, County Laois.

The name Ómós - meaning honour, duty, and respect - reflects our intention: to create something lasting and meaningful; something with soul.

We have built a Guesthouse and Restaurant that feel like they belong, reflecting on our neighbourhood and community, and that generously welcome curiosity, craft, and discovery.

Reporting into our Night Manager, our Guesthouse Porter will ensure the safety and security of our Guesthouse and our Guests.

This role will be 4 shifts per week with Sundays and Mondays off. The role will include shifts during the day and evening and will also provide night-time cover for when our Night Manager is off duty.

Our Guesthouse Porter will;

• Maintain the cleanliness of all areas of the Guesthouse and surrounding areas
• Supporting the maintenance of the ground floor and public areas
• Ensure all procedures in regards to fire and safety are adhered to at all times
• Check in and out of Guests when required
• Manage the security of luggage and porterage of same
• Responsibility for the front entrance and outside of the Guesthouse and ensure that it is clean and tidy at all times
• Set up the breakfast area of the Guesthouse as per guidelines
• Supporting the Guesthouse Assistants in preparing for check outs
• Complete nightly tasks as per checklist

The person

• Experience in a similar role, enjoys multitasking and has a positive can-do attitude
• Hospitality experience is a distinct advantage
• Flexible approach to work- This role will be a split role requiring portering across day and night shifts.
• Enjoys working with autonomy and has a good attitude to changing priorities and catering to our Guests
• Excellent awareness of hygiene & cleanliness standards
• Great attention to detail
• Discreet and can manage information in confidence ensuring guest confidentiality.
