Job summary

Talbot Hotel Midleton, part of the Talbot Collection, is recruiting a Night Porter to join the team. The role involves covering 4 or 5 shifts per week, overseeing the hotel during night hours and ensuring outstanding guest service across conference and public areas.

You will be responsible for setting up meeting rooms, coordinating with front office, handling room service requests, and performing safety checks and night audits to protect guests and assets.

Qualifications

• Computer literate and reliable with good organisation.
• Be proactive and a team player.
• Strong command of written and spoken English is essential.
• Previous experience in a similar role is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Ensure meeting & events rooms are set up, broken down and reset according to weekly function sheets.
• Liaise with front office regarding client requirements.
• Set up and deliver room service requests when required.
• Deal with external and internal queries.
• Carry out safety checks and night audits to safeguard guests.
• Prepare the hotel for the next day’s business.
• Serve guest needs during the night shift.
• Safeguard company assets and money.
• Coordinate cleaning and general porter duties as required.
• Provide a safe environment for guests and ensure proper handover at shift end with full check sheets.

Job description

Talbot Hotel Midleton, part of the Talbot Collection, are currently recruiting for a Night Porter to join our team, this position will be rostered to work 4 or 5 shifts per week.

Overall Job Purpose

Responsibility for the hotel during night hours, ensuring that the highest level of guest service is given at all times, paying particular attention to conference/function business and all public areas, ascertaining complete guest satisfaction at all times;

Main Duties

• To ensure meeting & event rooms are properly set up, broken down and reset according to the weekly function sheets;
• To liaise with front office regarding all aspects of client's requirements;
• To set up and deliver room service requests when required;
• To deal with external and internal queries;
• To ensure the safety of all our guests throughout the night, by completing the safety checks and night audits competently;
• Ensure the hotel is prepared for the next day's business;
• Serve all guest requirements for the property during the night period;
• Ensure that all necessary steps are taken to safeguard company money, goods and assets;
• Coordinate and carry out various cleaning duties and general porter duties, as necessary;
• Provide a safe and secure environment for hotel guests;
• Ensure a complete & clear handover is done with the porter going off duty and that you prepare a handover for the end of your shift ensuring all check sheets are fully completed.

The successful candidate will have

• Computer literate, be reliable and be well organised.
• Be proactive and be a team player.
• Good command of the English Language both written & verbal is essential.

Previous experience of a similar role is desired.

Must be flexible as the role involves shift work and weekend work.
