Job summary

Talbot Hotel Midleton, part of the Talbot Collection, is seeking a Night Porter to join our team. The role covers night hours with 4- or 5-shift rosters and focuses on guest service, safety, and smooth operations.

You will liaise with front office, set up rooms, handle calls and room service when required, and help prepare for the following day. Flexible with weekend work; previous hospitality experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience in a similar night porter or hospitality role is preferred.
• Must be flexible for shift work, including weekends.
• Good command of English in written and spoken form.

Responsibilities

• Oversee hotel operations during night hours to ensure guest satisfaction.
• Set up, break down and reset meeting rooms as per weekly function sheets.
• Coordinate with front office on client requirements and night audits.
• Deliver room service requests when required.
• Maintain safety checks and ensure a secure environment for guests.
• Prepare hotel for the next day’s business and handover to the on-coming shift.

Talbot Hotel Midleton, part of the Talbot Collection, are currently recruiting for a Night Porter to join our team, this position will be rostered to work 4 or 5 shifts per week.

Overall Job Purpose

Responsibility for the hotel during night hours, ensuring that the highest level of guest service is given at all times, paying particular attention to conference/function business and all public areas, ascertaining complete guest satisfaction at all times;

Main Duties

• To ensure meeting & event rooms are properly set up, broken down and reset according to the weekly function sheets;
• To liaise with front office regarding all aspects of client’s requirements;
• To set up and deliver room service requests when required;
• To deal with external and internal queries;
• To ensure the safety of all our guests throughout the night, by completing the safety checks and night audits competently;
• Ensure the hotel is prepared for the next day's business;
• Serve all guest requirements for the property during the night period;
• Ensure that all necessary steps are taken to safeguard company money, goods and assets;
• Coordinate and carry out various cleaning duties and general porter duties, as necessary;
• Provide a safe and secure environment for hotel guests;
• Ensure a complete & clear handover is done with the porter going off duty and that you prepare a handover for the end of your shift ensuring all check sheets are fully completed.

The successful candidate will have

• Computer literate, be reliable and be well organised.
• Be proactive and be a team player.
• Good command of the English Language both written & verbal is essential.

Previous experience of a similar role is desired.

Must be flexible as the role involves shift work and weekend work.
