Job summary

Darwin Hawkins is seeking a Group Financial Controller to lead the financial reporting and commercial finance function. Based in the South East, you will drive monthly management accounting, budgeting and strategic analyses for senior leadership.

You will work closely with the CFO, manage cost-control initiatives and support strategic finance projects in a high-growth Irish start-up environment.

Qualifications

• Qualified Accountant with appropriate professional status.
• At least 10 years post-qualification experience.
• Big 4 or Top 10 practice background is preferred.
• Experience in a commercial business environment.
• Comfortable presenting to senior stakeholders.
• Demonstrated ambition for long-term progression in a growing Irish business.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Produce year-end accounts and supporting schedules.
• Create presentations and financial analyses for senior management.
• Assist in annual budgets, forecasts and long-term plans.
• Collaborate with operations to provide financial insights.
• Monitor overheads and identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Support CFO on strategic finance projects and ad-hoc requests.
• Liaise with stakeholders and external advisors as required.

Role and Reporting Lines

The role reports directly to the CFO and includes the following:

• Preparation of monthly management accounts, balance sheet reconciliations and year-end accounts
• Preparation of presentations and insightful financial analysis for senior management to support decision-making and value creationAssist with the preparation of annual budgets, forecasts and long-term strategic plans
• Work closely with operational teams across the business providing financial support and commercial insights
• Ongoing monitoring of overheads and identification of cost-saving initiatives across the organisation
• Assist in driving efficiencies and continuous improvement initiatives within the finance function
• Support the CFO on ad-hoc commercial and strategic finance projects
• Liaise with senior stakeholders across the business and external advisors where required
