Job summary

Connexus Recruit is seeking an experienced Grocery Delivery Operations Lead for a major Irish retailer based in Dublin. You will own the end‑to‑end delivery operation across multiple stores, balancing day‑to‑day performance with strategic scaling and efficiency improvements.

You’ll forecast capacity, manage resources, and collaborate with store and regional teams to optimise fulfilment, stock and delivery performance for a growing home‑delivery proposition.

Qualifications

• Exposure to home delivery, grocery fulfilment or last‑mile operations.
• Experience managing high‑volume operations across multiple locations.
• Understanding how store operations, fulfilment and delivery work together.
• Forecasting demand and resource requirements.
• Strong analytical skills with KPIs and data.

Responsibilities

• Own day‑to‑day performance of the grocery delivery operation across multiple stores/locations.
• Forecast capacity requirements based on demand, seasonality, growth and new stores.
• Ensure delivery resources are available in the right locations and times.
• Oversee live operations: delivery slots, order allocation, exceptions and issues.
• Own service measures: on‑time delivery, order accuracy, substitutions, customer experience.
• Collaborate with store/regional management on fulfilment and stock challenges.
• Monitor and improve delivery cost per order, utilisation and efficiency.
• Lead and develop the operations team with clear performance standards.
• Plan readiness for peak periods, new locations and new services.
• Partner with Product/Data/Tech to improve forecasting, routing and processes.
• Identify opportunities to use automation to remove manual steps.

Job description

An opportunity has opened up with a major Irish retail business for an experienced Grocery Delivery Operations Lead to take ownership of a large-scale grocery delivery operation.

This is a senior, hands‑on operations role with responsibility for ensuring the delivery operation performs effectively day to day, while also helping shape how the service develops and scales.

You’ll work across retail operations, fulfilment and last-mile delivery, taking responsibility for everything from delivery capacity and service performance through to operational efficiency, cost and future growth.

The role

• Own the day-to-day performance of the grocery delivery operation across multiple stores and locations
• Forecast delivery capacity requirements based on demand, seasonality, growth and new store launches
• Ensure sufficient delivery resource is available in the right locations at the right times
• Oversee live operations including delivery slots, order allocation, exceptions and operational issues
• Own key service measures including on‑time delivery, order accuracy, substitutions and overall customer experience
• Work closely with store and regional management around fulfilment, stock availability and store-level operational challenges
• Monitor and improve delivery cost per order, utilisation and overall operational efficiency
• Lead and develop the operations team, establishing clear performance standards and ways of working
• Plan operational readiness for peak trading periods, new locations and new delivery services
• Partner with Product, Data and Technology teams to improve forecasting, routing, dispatch and operational processes
• Identify opportunities to use automation and technology to remove manual processes and improve performance

What we're looking for

We're particularly interested in speaking with people who have operated within grocery retail, online grocery, retail eCommerce or a closely related environment, where home delivery or delivery strategy has formed a meaningful part of their remit.

You'll ideally bring:

• Strong experience within grocery, retail or eCommerce operations
• Direct exposure to home delivery, grocery fulfilment or last-mile operations
• Experience managing complex, high-volume operations across multiple locations
• Strong understanding of how store operations, fulfilment and delivery work together
• Experience forecasting demand and operational resource requirements
• Strong analytical skills and confidence working with operational data and KPIs
• Experience managing budgets and improving operational costs
• Proven people leadership experience
• Ability to operate comfortably between hands‑on day-to-day operations and longer‑term operational strategy

This would particularly suit someone who has worked within a large grocery retailer or online grocery operation and has been involved in developing or managing its home-delivery proposition.

The role is based in Dublin and offers the opportunity to take ownership of a significant delivery operation at an important stage of its growth.
