Job summary

Sigmar Recruitment is seeking an experienced Operations Director to lead performance across multiple Ireland facilities with potential UK expansion. You will drive profitability through cost control, efficiency and standardised processes across warehousing, logistics and supply chain operations.

The role requires strong leadership, a track record of cost reductions, and deep expertise in ERP/WMS, 3PL management and continuous improvement using Lean Six Sigma methods.

Responsibilities

• Lead operational performance across multiple facilities in Ireland, with expansion into the UK over time.
• Drive a culture of accountability, safety and continuous improvement across the business.
• Lead and optimise warehousing, logistics and supply chain operations, ensuring high levels of efficiency and customer service.
• Own operational costs, budgets and P&L, identifying opportunities to improve profitability and reduce expenditure.
• Review and optimise 3PL providers, freight and distribution costs.
• Develop initiatives to reduce dead stock and improve inventory management.
• Drive margin improvement through process optimisation and cost reduction; develop and standardise SOPs.
• Introduce and manage KPIs across warehousing and logistics (profitability, cost per order, delivery cost, pick rate).
• Utilise ERP, WMS and BI reporting to support data-driven decisions.
• Apply Lean, Six Sigma and process mapping to improve performance.
• Ensure ISO, BRC and IFS compliance while supporting risk management and governance.
• Support lease reviews and dilapidation controls where required.

About the Position

Our client, a leading multinational organisation, is seeking an experienced Operations Director to lead operational performance across multiple facilities throughout Ireland, with responsibility expanding into the UK as the business continues to grow.

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, this newly created position is focused on driving profitability through cost control, operational efficiency and the implementation of best-in-class processes across warehousing, logistics and supply chain operations.

This is a highly visible leadership role where you will take ownership of operational performance, develop scalable operational frameworks and deliver continuous improvement initiatives that generate measurable cost savings, improved service levels and increased profitability.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead operational performance across multiple facilities throughout Ireland, with responsibility expanding into the UK over time.
• Drive a culture of accountability, safety and continuous improvement across the business.
• Lead and optimise warehousing, logistics and supply chain operations, ensuring high levels of operational efficiency and customer service.
• Take ownership of operational costs, budgets and operational P&L, identifying opportunities to improve profitability and reduce expenditure.
• Review and optimise third-party logistics (3PL) providers, freight and distribution costs.
• Develop initiatives to reduce dead stock, improve inventory management and optimise stock holding.
• Drive margin improvement initiatives through process optimisation and cost reduction.Develop, implement and standardise SOPs across operational functions.
• Introduce and manage KPIs across warehousing and logistics, including warehouse profitability, cost per order, cost per delivery, cost per pick, vehicle utilisation and inventory performance.
• Utilise ERP, WMS and Business Intelligence reporting to support data-driven decision making.
• Apply Lean principles, Six Sigma methodologies and process mapping to improve operational performance.
• Ensure compliance with ISO, BRC and IFS standards while supporting risk management, insurance requirements and operational governance.
• Support building lease reviews and dilapidation controls where required.

Experience & Requirements

• Significant experience leading warehousing, logistics and supply chain operations within a multinational distribution environment.
• A proven track record of reducing operational costs, improving operational efficiency and increasing profitability.
• Strong financial acumen with experience managing operational budgets and P&L.
• Experience managing 3PL providers, warehouse operations and logistics performance.
• Strong knowledge of inventory management, stock optimisation and warehouse KPIs.
• Experience implementing SOPs, Lean principles, Six Sigma and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Experience using ERP, WMS and Business Intelligence reporting systems.
• Manufacturing experience is essential.
• Excellent leadership skills with the ability to influence change and drive operational improvements across multiple sites.
