Quest Recruitment is seeking an experienced Fund Accounting Manager for a Private Equity / Private Markets portfolio in Dublin. The role combines technical fund accounting oversight with client management, team leadership and on-time reporting.
You will oversee NAVs, capital calls, distributions and waterfall calculations for a portfolio of PE and Private Credit funds, collaborate with managers, administrators and auditors, and coach junior staff to strengthen controls and processes.
Fund Accounting Manager – Private Equity / Private Markets
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced funds professional to join a growing alternative investments business in Dublin in a Fund Accounting Manager position.
This role will suit an experienced fund accounting professional with strong exposure to Private Equity or other closed-ended alternative funds. We are also particularly interested in speaking with qualified accountants coming from a leading audit firm who have substantial hands-on audit experience across Private Equity, Private Credit or similar private-market fund structures.
You do not necessarily need to have held the title of Fund Accounting Manager previously. If you have developed a strong technical understanding of how private-market funds operate through your audit portfolio, this could provide an opportunity to move directly into a senior fund accounting position.
You will take responsibility for a portfolio of alternative investment funds and play a senior role within the fund accounting function. The position combines technical fund accounting oversight, client management, team leadership and responsibility for the quality and timely delivery of fund reporting.
Key responsibilities will include:
The client recognises that relevant private-markets experience can be gained in different environments.
As a result, applications are welcomed both from experienced fund accounting professionals and from qualified auditors within leading audit firms who have developed significant Private Equity, Private Credit or alternative funds experience.
For audit candidates in particular, your CV should make the underlying fund mechanics you have worked with clear. Relevant experience may include:
You are likely to be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or equivalent) with a strong technical grounding in alternative investments.
Candidates may come from either:
Fund Administration / Fund Accounting – with established experience managing or reviewing Private Equity, Private Credit or other alternative funds;
or
Audit – ideally from a Big 4 or other leading audit practice, where you have managed or played a senior role on audits of Private Equity, Private Credit or comparable alternative investment funds.
You should be able to demonstrate a genuine understanding of private-market fund mechanics rather than simply having alternative funds listed amongst a broader portfolio.
Experience of fund accounting platforms such as Investran, Geneva or comparable systems would be advantageous, although candidates coming directly from audit are not expected to have identical systems experience.
Strong client-management, communication and people-management skills will be important, together with the ability to explain technical accounting and fund matters clearly to both specialist and non-specialist stakeholders.
Don’t rule yourself out because your CV doesn’t currently say “Fund Accounting”.
Many auditors working with Private Equity and Private Credit funds have considerably more relevant fund accounting experience than is immediately apparent from their CV.
If you have been reviewing NAVs, capital calls and distributions, waterfalls and carried interest, fund documentation, Level 3 valuations, investor allocations or Private Credit accounting as part of your audit work, make that experience explicit in your application.
The hiring team is prepared to consider strong audit candidates who can demonstrate that they understand the underlying mechanics of private-market funds and are ready to transfer that knowledge into an operational fund accounting environment.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced alternative funds professional – or a strong Private Equity / Private Credit auditor looking to move out of practice – to take the next step into a senior fund accounting position.
