Job summary

Respond Housing Association in Dublin 9 is seeking a Front Desk Attendant on a permanent part-time contract (22 hours per week). The role requires welcoming visitors, handling calls, managing mail, and providing accurate information in a friendly, professional manner.

Qualifications

  • A good standard of education is essential (eg. FETAC).
  • A qualification in Social Care would be a distinct advantage.
  • Understanding homelessness and the needs of homeless families.
  • Garda vetting will be conducted on an ongoing basis.

Job Title: Front Desk Attendant

Location: Respond Family Hub, High Park, Drumcondra, Dublin 9

Reporting to: Homeless Service Manager

Terms: Permanent Part-Time Contract (22 hours flexible Monday to Sunday)

Job Purpose:

To work as part of a team, supporting families in Supported Temporary Accommodation.

Core duties and responsibilities:

  • Knowledge and understanding of the issues affecting people who are experiencing homelessness.
  • Excellent communication skills, relevant to working with clients with addiction/learning disabilities / mental health issues / challenging behaviour, etc.
  • The ability to demonstrate that you are committed to the ethos of Respond.
  • The ability to work as part of a team in a challenging environment.
  • The ability to deliver good quality services fosters and enhances the dignity, development and independence of the service.
  • To build sustainable relationships with the service users and create a welcoming and non-judgemental atmosphere.
  • Greet and welcome visitors and service users in a professional and friendly manner.
  • Answer, screen and forward incoming phone calls.
  • Provide basic and accurate information in person and via phone/email.
  • Maintain the reception area in a tidy and presentable condition.
  • Receive, sort and distribute daily mail and deliveries.
  • Schedule and coordinate appointments, meetings and events as needed.
  • Manage visitor sign-in and security procedures.
  • Assist with administrative tasks such as data entry, filing and maintaining office supplies.
  • Handle enquiries and provide assistance to clients and staff.
  • Perform other clerical duties such as photocopying and scanning documents.
  • To maintain general Health and Safety procedures within the building.
  • Working flexible hours including shifts and weekends.

Person specification:

  • A good standard of education is essential for this position (eg. FETAC).
  • A qualification in Social Care would be a distinct advantage.
  • An understanding of the nature of homelessness and the needs of homeless families.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of Child Protection.
  • The ability to treat the client group in a non-judgmental and respectful way.
  • The ability to work within clear professional boundaries.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Be highly motivated, reliable & flexible.
  • Garda vetting will be conducted on an ongoing basis.
