Job summary

Focus Ireland in Dublin is seeking an experienced social care professional to provide onsite support to families in emergency accommodation. You will assess, support and advocate to move families from homelessness to stable housing.

Responsibilities include managing an allocated caseload, carrying out assessments, developing and implementing support plans, and maintaining accurate records, in a client-centred, trauma-informed environment.

Qualifications

• Must have a degree in social care or be CORU registered.
• Experience in social care environment is required.
• Full clean driver’s license and access to a car are desirable.

Responsibilities

• Carry out assessments and reviews and develop and implement support plans with families referred to the service.
• Work within a client-centred, trauma informed environment and encourage autonomy and independence.
• Maintain accurate records and statistics in accordance with Focus Ireland policy.
• Participate in the evaluation and development of the service.
• Establish links with local services and housing providers; collaborate with emergency accommodation teams.
• Comply with Focus Ireland policies (Child Protection, Confidentiality, Customer Complaints, Health and Safety, Personnel).
• Be vigilant to Health, Safety and Welfare risks and report concerns.
• Participate in relevant training and development.
• Undertake other duties as assigned by the Manager.

What You Will Do

• Manage an allocated caseload and adhere to care and case management processes and protocols.
• Carry out assessments and reviews and develop and implement support plans with families referred to the service.
• To work within a client-centred, psychologically informed environment and trauma informed approach, encouraging autonomy and independence.
• Maintain accurate records and statistics in accordance with Focus Ireland policy. To work with and under the supervision and direction of the line management within the project.
• Participate in the evaluation and development of the service.
• Make contact with and establish links as appropriate with local services and relevant community groups and to work closely with emergency accommodation and housing providers .
• Be familiar with and comply with all relevant Focus Ireland policy e.g. Child Protection Policy, Confidentiality Policy, Customer Complaints Policy, Health and Safety Policy, Personnel Policy.
• Be vigilant to any Health, Safety and Welfare risks in the workplace and bring any concerns to the attention of your Line Manager or Health Safety representative.
• Participate in relevant training and development courses as agreed with your Manager/Team Leader.
• Undertake such other duties as might be reasonably assigned from time to time in consultation with the Manager.

What You Will Need

• A Third Level qualification at degree level in the area of social care i.e. youth work, social studies, addiction, psychology etc and/or be a CORU registered Social Care Worker.
• Proven experience working in a social care setting.
• Full clean driver’s license and use of car. (Desirable)
• Experience of dealing with child protection and welfare responsibilities and responding appropriately to any concerns. (Desirable)
• Experience in carrying out assessments, including risk assessments. (Desirable)
