Job summary

DSV Cork is seeking a Freight Forwarder – Ocean to manage sea freight shipments from order creation through final delivery.

You will provide customers with proactive updates, maintain shipment records, and coordinate with shipping lines, overseas offices, customs and transport providers to ensure smooth cargo movement. This role emphasizes strong customer service, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced logistics environment.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a customer service, administration, or logistics environment.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Proficient in MS Office, especially Excel, Word, Outlook.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Attention to detail and commitment to delivering high levels of customer service.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage sea freight shipments from order creation through to final delivery.
• Provide customers with proactive updates and full visibility of their shipments.
• Respond to customer enquiries promptly and professionally through verbal and written communication.
• Monitor shipment progress and identify potential disruptions before they impact customers.
• Coordinate with shipping lines, overseas offices, customs authorities, and transportation providers to ensure smooth cargo movement.
• Manage exceptions and resolve operational issues in a timely and customer-focused manner.
• Ensure accurate system data entry and maintenance of shipment records.
• Open and maintain shipment files in accordance with procedures and service standards.
• Coordinate customs brokerage requirements and ensure all documentation is complete and accurate.
• Manage and maintain In-Transit Reports and shipment tracking information.
• Support accurate and timely invoicing and cost control processes.
• Work to established service levels, KPIs, SOPs, and compliance requirements.
• Collaborate with internal departments to deliver the highest levels of customer satisfaction.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and operational excellence within the team.

Mon-Fri, 09.00-17.30, 37.5 hours

You will work closely with customers, overseas offices, shipping lines, transport providers, customs teams, and internal stakeholders to ensure a seamless and high-quality customer experience. This role is ideal for a customer-focused individual who enjoys building relationships, solving problems, and working in a dynamic logistics environment where no two days are the same.
