Job summary

Oliver James Group in Dublin is seeking a hands-on Financial Reporting Accountant with experience in the insurance or reinsurance sector to own day-to-day accounting and ensure accurate, timely financial reporting across month-end, quarter-end and year-end.

This six-month contract is hybrid: two days per week in Dublin centre and three days remote, with potential extension or permanency for the right candidate; you will support audits, reconciliations and process improvements with strong

The Role

We are looking for a hands-on Financial Accountant with experience within the insurance or reinsurance industry to join a growing team in Dublin.

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the financial reporting function, taking ownership of day-to-day accounting activities and ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting across month-end, quarter-end and year-end processes.

This is a practical, delivery-focused role suited to someone who enjoys getting stuck into the detail, taking a proactive approach and working collaboratively with colleagues across the business. Strong communication skills are essential, alongside the ability to manage competing priorities and meet reporting deadlines.

Skills & Experience

• Previous experience working within the insurance or reinsurance industry.
• Experience in a financial accounting or financial reporting role.
• Strong understanding of month-end, quarter-end and year-end accounting processes.
• Hands-on experience preparing balance sheet reconciliations and performing account reconciliations.
• Experience supporting internal and external audits.
• Strong attention to detail, with the ability to investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies.
• Excellent communication skills, with the confidence to liaise with stakeholders at different levels.
• A proactive, practical and hands-on approach, with a willingness to roll up your sleeves and get involved in the detail.

Desirable

• Experience or exposure to Solvency II (SII) reporting requirements.
• Experience using Oracle financial systems.
• Relevant professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or actively studying towards one.
