Job summary

Collins McNicholas Recruitment & HR Services Group represents a global semiconductor equipment client in Kildare seeking a Field Service Engineer. You will perform on-site maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs to maximise equipment uptime and performance.

You will install and service complex systems, work closely with customers, and provide technical guidance while maintaining detailed service records. Travel readiness and a flexible approach to shifts are essential.

Qualifications

Job description

Our client, a global provider of semiconductor manufacturing equipment, is seeking a Field Service Engineer to join their growing team in Kildare.

Reporting to the Senior Engineer, you will provide on-site technical support to customers, carrying out equipment maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs to ensure optimal performance and minimise downtime.

Flexibility to work shifts is essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair complex technical equipment.
• Carry out preventative maintenance and equipment servicing.
• Respond to customer service requests and provide technical support.
• Support equipment installation, performance and reliability.
• Build strong customer relationships and provide technical guidance.
• Maintain accurate service reports and records.
• Liaise with internal engineering teams to resolve technical issues.
• Maintain company tools, parts and equipment.

Requirements

• A qualification in Engineering, Electronics, Physics, Computer Science or a related technical discipline.
• 3+ years experience in field service, equipment maintenance or technical troubleshooting, ideally within the semiconductor, electronics or high-tech manufacturing industries.
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills, with experience working on complex equipment.
• Experience with optics, lasers, vacuum systems or similar technologies would be an advantage.
• Excellent communication skills and a customer-focused approach.
• Flexibility to work shifts and travel overseas for training when required, including a potential training period in Japan of up to three months.
