Field Service Engineer – Medical Devices

The Opportunity

Our client is a leading medical device distribution business supplying specialist equipment and solutions to hospitals and healthcare providers across Ireland. Due to continued growth, they are now looking to appoint an experienced Field Service Engineer to join their team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with a strong technical background who enjoys working directly with customers and healthcare professionals and is looking to develop their career within the medical device sector.

The Role

As Field Service Engineer, you will be responsible for the installation, servicing, maintenance, repair and technical support of a range of medical equipment across hospitals and healthcare facilities throughout Ireland.

You will work closely with customers, clinical teams, internal sales teams and manufacturers to ensure equipment is operating safely, efficiently and in line with required standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, commission and provide technical support for medical equipment at customer sites.
• Carry out planned preventative maintenance, servicing and repairs.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical and electronic equipment faults.
• Respond to customer service calls and ensure issues are resolved within agreed timeframes.
• Provide technical guidance and training to clinical and hospital staff where required.
• Complete detailed service reports, maintenance records and relevant documentation.
• Work closely with manufacturers and suppliers to resolve complex technical issues.
• Maintain strong relationships with hospital engineering departments, clinical teams and other key stakeholders.
• Support equipment demonstrations, installations and product evaluations alongside the commercial team.
• Ensure all work is completed in accordance with company procedures, health & safety requirements and relevant medical-device regulations.
• Manage your own schedule, prioritising service calls and preventative maintenance efficiently.
• Travel extensively throughout Ireland, with occasional overnight stays as required.

The Ideal Candidate

We are interested in speaking with engineers who have experience in one or more of the following areas:

• Medical devices or healthcare equipment.
• Electrical, electronic or mechanical engineering.
• Hospital or laboratory equipment.
• Industrial equipment, machinery or technical maintenance.
• Installation, commissioning and preventative maintenance.

You will ideally have:

• A relevant engineering qualification or equivalent technical experience.
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving ability.
• Excellent customer-facing and communication skills.
• The ability to work independently and manage your own workload.
• A professional approach when dealing with hospital and clinical customers.
• Full clean driving licence.
• Willingness to travel throughout Ireland.
