Job summary

AbbVie is seeking a Senior Manager, External Manufacturing to lead relationships with third‑party manufacturers across Ireland. You will ensure continuity of supply, quality, regulatory compliance, and competitive costs, acting as AbbVie's primary contact for external sites.

This strategic/operational role involves governance via VOTs, performance reviews, and coordinating complex transfers and projects to improve manufacturing robustness and profitability.

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering or a scientific discipline.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or related regulated industry.
• Sterile manufacturing experience (mandatory).
• Aseptic processing experience (mandatory).
• Technology transfer experience (mandatory).
• Strong project management and supplier management skills.
• Excellent stakeholder management, negotiation, and communication capabilities.
• GMP and quality systems knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Manage relationships with third‑party manufacturers with governance and clear roles.
• Coordinate forecasts, production schedules, and delivery plans to ensure continuity of supply.
• Identify and mitigate operational risks related to capacity, materials, and lead times.
• Lead governance via VOTs, reviews, and steering committees with manufacturers.
• Define and monitor KPIs for quality, service, cost, and lead times; drive action plans.
• Prepare reports and executive summaries for management.
• Ensure quality/regulatory compliance with Quality and manufacturing partners.
• Coordinate audits, inspections, deviations, CAPAs, and timing of corrective actions.
• Contribute to product release decisions and manage potential non-conformities.
• Lead technology transfers and strategic projects for external manufacturing improvements.
• Coordinate internal teams and partners, managing risks, timelines, and costs.
• Support products through lifecycle and identify opportunities to improve reliability and profitability.
