Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced External Foreman to join one of our client's construction teams based in Portlaoise.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and coordinating external works and subcontractors, ensuring all works are completed safely, efficiently and to the required quality and programme standards.

The role will involve working closely with the Site Manager, Project Manager, Engineers and subcontractors to coordinate external packages and support the successful delivery of the project.

Role and Responsibilities

• Manage and supervise all external works across the project.
• Coordinate groundworks, drainage, utilities, roads, paving, kerbing and landscaping works.
• Manage and coordinate external subcontractors and direct labour.
• Ensure works are completed in accordance with drawings, specifications and programme requirements.
• Work closely with Site Managers, Engineers and Project Managers to plan and sequence works.
• Monitor subcontractor performance and ensure works remain on programme.
• Coordinate site logistics, plant, materials and deliveries relating to external works.
• Review drawings and identify potential construction or coordination issues.
• Ensure works are completed to the required quality standards.
• Carry out inspections and assist with quality control and snagging.
• Maintain high standards of site organisation and housekeeping.
• Ensure compliance with all Health & Safety procedures and site requirements.
• Assist with short-term planning and communicate upcoming requirements to the wider site team.
• Identify potential delays or issues and work with the project team to resolve them.
• Maintain effective communication with subcontractors, suppliers and project stakeholders.
• Support the project through to completion and handover.

Requirements

• Previous experience as an External Foreman, General Foreman or similar site management role.
• Strong experience managing external works and groundworks packages.
• Experience coordinating groundworks, drainage, utilities, roads, paving and landscaping.
• Main contractor experience is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of construction methods, sequencing and site operations.
• Ability to read and understand construction drawings and specifications.
• Experience managing subcontractors and direct labour.
• Strong knowledge of Health & Safety requirements within construction.
• Excellent organisational and planning skills.
• Strong communication and leadership abilities.
• Ability to coordinate effectively with Site Managers, Engineers and subcontractors.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Proactive, practical and solutions-focused approach to site management.
