Pivotal Recruitment Limited in Dublin is seeking an experienced Finishing Foreman / Setting Out Engineer to join a construction team. The role combines site engineering and finishing responsibilities to set out and complete works to the required standards.

You will work with the Site Manager and subcontractors to ensure timely delivery, maintain QA, health and safety, and manage snagging through to handover. This role offers strong benefits and progression opportunities.

Qualifications

• Experience as Setting Out Engineer, Finishing Foreman or similar construction role
• Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings

Responsibilities

Job Specification - Finishing Foreman / Setting Out Engineer

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Finishing Foreman / Setting Out Engineer to join one of our client's construction teams based in Dublin.

This role will combine site engineering and finishing responsibilities, ensuring works are accurately set out and completed to the required quality, programme and Health & Safety standards.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Site Manager, Project Manager, subcontractors and wider project team to support the successful delivery of the project.

Role and Responsibilities

• Carry out accurate setting out and surveying of works in accordance with drawings and specifications.
• Coordinate and supervise finishing trades and subcontractors on site.
• Ensure finishing works are completed to a high-quality standard and in line with the project programme.
• Review drawings, specifications and technical information.
• Identify and resolve technical or construction issues as they arise.
• Carry out quality inspections and maintain relevant QA documentation.
• Monitor subcontractor performance and ensure works are progressing to programme.
• Manage and coordinate snagging and de-snagging through to completion.
• Liaise with the Site Manager, Project Manager, design team and subcontractors.
• Maintain accurate site records and engineering documentation.
• Ensure materials and resources are available to meet programme requirements.
• Support the coordination of works through the finishing and handover stages.
• Ensure compliance with Health & Safety procedures and site standards.

Requirements

• Previous experience as a Setting Out Engineer, Finishing Foreman or similar construction role.
• Relevant qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline is desirable.
• Strong experience with setting out, surveying and interpreting construction drawings.
• Experience coordinating finishing trades and subcontractors.
• Strong understanding of construction methods and sequencing.
• Experience with quality control, snagging and project handover.
• Good knowledge of Health & Safety requirements within construction.
• Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and team-management abilities.
• Ability to work effectively with site management, subcontractors and design teams.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering a high-quality finish.
