Job summary

Elk Recruitment is seeking an experienced Estimator with Curtain Walling expertise to join our client’s Dublin team. The role focuses on preparing accurate cost estimates for facade projects by interpreting architectural drawings, specs and scope to support bidding and planning.

You will analyse plans to identify materials, labour and subcontractor needs, collaborate with architects, engineers and suppliers, evaluate bids and maintain cost data to support negotiations.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as an Estimator specializing in facades or building envelope systems.
• Strong knowledge of facade materials, construction techniques and industry standards.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, specifications and engineering documents.
• Proficiency in estimating software commonly used in construction.
• Excellent analytical and numerical skills with attention to detail.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for stakeholder collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for facade projects from drawings, specs and scope.
• Analyse project plans to identify materials, labour, equipment and subcontractor requirements.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, suppliers and project managers to reflect project constraints.
• Evaluate subcontractor bids and supplier quotes to include in total costs.
• Maintain a database of historical costs and pricing for facade works.
• Identify risks and opportunities and provide cost-saving recommendations.
• Present estimates to internal teams and clients, addressing questions as needed.
• Assist in bid proposals and participate in client/subcontractor negotiations.

The successful candidate will play a crucial role in accurately preparing cost estimates for facade projects, which are essential for bidding and project planning. This position requires a deep understanding of various facade systems, materials, and construction methodologies, as well as the ability to interpret architectural drawings and specifications with precision.

Your new role includes:

• Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for facade projects based on architectural drawings, specifications, and scope of work.
• Analyse project plans and documents to identify materials, labour, equipment, and subcontractor requirements.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, suppliers, and project managers to ensure estimates reflect project expectations and constraints.
• Evaluate subcontractor bids and supplier quotes to incorporate into overall project costs.
• Maintain and update a comprehensive database of historical costs and pricing information specific to facade materials and installation methods.
• Identify potential risks and opportunities in the project scope and provide recommendations for cost-effective solutions.
• Present and explain estimates to internal teams and clients, addressing any questions or concerns promptly.
• Assist in the preparation of bid proposals and participate in negotiations with clients and subcontractors as necessary.

Experience you need:

• Proven experience as an Estimator specializing in facades or building envelope systems.
• Strong knowledge of facade materials, construction techniques, and relevant industry standards.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, specifications, and engineering documents accurately.
• Proficiency in estimating software and tools commonly used in the construction industry.
• Excellent analytical and mathematical skills with great attention to detail.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with multiple stakeholders.
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field preferred.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines under pressure.
• Understanding of procurement processes and subcontractor management related to facade works.
