Façade 3D Designer – Glazing Systems

Location: Raheen, Limerick (on-site)

Our client is a long-established and highly regarded façade specialist based in the Limerick region, designing, manufacturing and installing complete façade solutions for landmark commercial, educational, healthcare, pharmaceutical and residential buildings across Ireland. With a substantial directly-employed workforce and significant in-house manufacturing, technical and design capability, the company is recognised as a market leader in architectural aluminium and glazing. Its product range spans unitised and stick curtain walling, windows and doors, brise soleil, louvres, cladding and rainscreen systems, structural and bolted point‑fixed glazing, and steel wall infill and fire systems. Role Overview:

Due to a strong and growing order book, our client is seeking an experienced 3D Designer to join its in‑house technical team. Working within a busy design office, you will develop detailed 3D models and fabrication‑ready drawings for curtain walling, glazing and façade systems, taking projects from architectural concept through to manufacture and site installation. This is a key technical role suited to a designer who is genuinely proficient in the 3D environment and confident interpreting complex architectural intent into buildable systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Produce detailed 3D models and 2D fabrication / assembly drawings for curtain walling, windows, doors, cladding, brise soleil and structural glazing systems.
• Develop designs from architect's drawings, specifications and performance requirements through to fully detailed, manufacture‑ready output.
• Prepare general arrangement drawings, sections, junction details and interface details with adjoining building elements.
• Work closely with the estimating, project management, production and site teams to ensure designs are accurate, compliant and buildable.
• Liaise with architects, main contractors and design teams on technical queries, RFIs and design coordination.
• Carry out material take‑offs and generate cutting / fabrication schedules for the production lines.
• Ensure all designs comply with relevant standards, CWCT performance criteria and project‑specific testing requirements.
• Maintain drawing registers and revision control throughout the project lifecycle.

Skills & Experience Required:

• Proven experience in a 3D design role, ideally within façade, curtain walling, glazing, fenestration, fabrication or a related construction‑product environment.
• Strong proficiency in 3D CAD / modelling software such as Inventor, SolidWorks, Revit, Rhino or AutoCAD 3D.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural drawings and specifications.
• Sound understanding of aluminium systems, glazing, weatherproofing and the principles of façade performance (air, water, wind, thermal).
• Strong attention to detail and a methodical, quality‑focused approach.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across technical, production and site teams.

Desirable:

• Experience with proprietary façade systems (e.g. Schüco, Reynaers, Kawneer, Wicona, Technal or similar).
• Knowledge of CWCT standards and façade testing processes.
• Qualification in mechanical / structural / architectural design, engineering or façade technology.
