Job summary

Pivotal Recruitment Limited represents a leading Irish main contractor seeking a Senior Estimator to own the full tender process and deliver competitive, commercially sound submissions.

You will work with directors, project teams, consultants, clients, subcontractors and suppliers to secure profitable work and drive the estimating function forward.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
  • 5-10 years' estimating experience in the construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of the Irish construction market, subcontractors and procurement routes.
  • Proven track record of delivering competitive tenders across multiple project sectors.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the preparation of detailed cost estimates and tender submissions across a diverse portfolio of construction projects.
  • Analyse drawings, specs and tender docs to produce accurate cost plans.
  • Manage the full tender process from initial enquiry through to final submission.
  • Identify project risks and commercial opportunities, incorporating these into pricing strategies.
  • Obtain, assess and negotiate subcontractor and supplier quotations.
  • Liaise with clients, consultants, subcontractors and internal stakeholders to clarify scope and technical requirements.
  • Present tender reviews, recommendations and commercial analysis to senior management.
  • Maintain and develop estimating databases, benchmarking information and historical cost records.
  • Mentor and support junior estimators while contributing to the development of the estimating function.
  • Attend pre-tender and client meetings as required.

The Role

As Senior Estimator, you will take ownership of the full tendering process, ensuring competitive, commercially sound submissions while working closely with directors, project teams, consultants, clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.

Key Responsibilities

About You
  • Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
  • 5-10 years' experience in an estimating role within the construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of the Irish construction market, including subcontractors, suppliers, and procurement routes.
  • Demonstrated success in delivering competitive tenders across multiple project sectors.
  • Excellent understanding of construction methodologies, materials, specifications, and Irish Building Regulations.
  • Strong commercial awareness with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Proficient in estimating software and Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, analytical, and organisational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment.
