Overview
An established manufacturing facility based in East Co. Galway is seeking to appoint an Engineering Manager to lead its engineering function. This is a site with a strong regulatory and quality focus, and the role carries real ownership over plant maintenance, equipment reliability, and the engineering team that keeps the operation running safely and efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the engineering team, including engineers, technicians, and external contractors.
- Manage preventative and predictive maintenance schedules to minimise unplanned downtime.
- Oversee the maintenance system, including job lists, PM plans, and engineering actions arising from GMP and audit findings.
- Drive forward plant improvement and capital projects in line with business priorities.
- Ensure the site meets its health, safety, food hygiene, environmental, BRC, and customer audit obligations.
- Champion OEE improvement, equipment reliability, and continuous improvement across the operation.
- Build a culture of accountability, innovation, and high performance within the engineering function.
- Manage annual maintenance budgets, control engineering costs, and prepare business cases for capital investment.
- Evaluate CapEx proposals and ROI to ensure spend aligns with operational and strategic goals.
Criteria
- A third-level qualification in Engineering, Manufacturing, Maintenance, or a related discipline.
- Solid engineering experience gained within a manufacturing environment.
- Proven track record managing people, contractors, maintenance systems, and engineering projects.
- Strong understanding of preventative/predictive maintenance, GMP, and audit compliance requirements.
- Comfortable working with CapEx justification, ROI analysis, and budget control.
- Strong leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- A strategic thinker who can also execute at pace, with a data-driven approach to decision‑making.
- Experience in a regulated manufacturing, food, or FMCG setting would be an advantage.
