Job summary

Lincoln Recruitment Specialists in Ireland is seeking an Engineering Supervisor to lead a skilled engineering team in a regulated manufacturing environment. The role focuses on safety, reliability, and continuous improvement of production equipment.

Qualifications

  • Degree or Higher Certificate in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, Mechatronic or Industrial Engineering.
  • Experience supervising or leading an engineering or maintenance team.
  • Strong experience in regulated manufacturing.
  • Experience with preventive & corrective maintenance programs.
  • Knowledge of GMP/ISO13485 and FDA regulated environments.
  • Experience supporting calibration and routine maintenance of equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of Engineering Technicians to achieve operational excellence.
  • Plan and coordinate preventative and reactive maintenance activities across manufacturing equipment and site assets.
  • Maximise equipment uptime, reliability and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
  • Monitor engineering KPIs, downtime trends and maintenance performance to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Ensure maintenance activities are accurately recorded and managed through the CMMS.
  • Lead investigations into equipment failures and engineering incidents, implementing effective RCA and corrective actions.
  • Support installation, commissioning, qualification and validation of new manufacturing equipment.
  • Collaborate closely with Production, Quality, Validation, EHS and Supply Chain teams to support manufacturing objectives.
  • Drive Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement initiatives to improve reliability and reduce waste.
  • Ensure engineering documentation, SOPs and maintenance procedures remain accurate and compliant.

Engineering Supervisor | Regulated Manufacturing

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Engineering Supervisor to join a growing, highly regulated manufacturing organisation. This is a hands‑on leadership role where you'll be responsible for leading a skilled engineering team, ensuring production equipment operates safely, efficiently and reliably while supporting continuous improvement across the manufacturing operation.

This position would suit an engineering professional with strong maintenance leadership experience gained within medical devices, pharmaceutical, life sciences, food, FMCG or another regulated manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, motivate and develop a team of Engineering Technicians to achieve operational excellence.
  • Plan and coordinate preventative and reactive maintenance activities across manufacturing equipment and site assets.
  • Maximise equipment uptime, reliability and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
  • Monitor engineering KPIs, downtime trends and maintenance performance to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Ensure maintenance activities are accurately recorded and managed through the CMMS.
  • Lead investigations into equipment failures and engineering incidents, implementing effective Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and corrective actions.
  • Support the installation, commissioning, qualification and validation of new manufacturing equipment.
  • Manage engineering support for production while minimising downtime and maintaining quality standards.
  • Ensure calibration, preventative maintenance and servicing schedules remain compliant and up to date.
  • Manage engineering spare parts inventory to balance equipment availability and cost control.
  • Collaborate closely with Production, Quality, Validation, EHS and Supply Chain teams to support manufacturing objectives.
  • Support engineering projects from concept through implementation.
  • Provide technical support during internal, customer and regulatory audits.
  • Produce engineering reports and present performance metrics to senior management.
  • Champion a proactive health and safety culture across the engineering function.
  • Support automation, PLC-controlled equipment, robotics and advanced manufacturing technologies.
  • Coach, mentor and develop engineering team members through performance reviews, training plans and succession planning.
  • Allocate engineering resources effectively to meet changing production priorities.
  • Drive Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement initiatives to improve reliability, reduce waste and optimise maintenance costs.
  • Ensure engineering documentation, SOPs and maintenance procedures remain accurate, compliant and current.
Requirements:
  • Degree or Higher Certificate in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, Mechatronic or Industrial Engineering.
  • Previous experience supervising or leading an engineering or maintenance team.
  • Strong engineering experience within a regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Experience managing preventative and corrective maintenance programmes.
  • Excellent knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and automated manufacturing equipment.
  • Experience using Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
  • Strong understanding of quality and regulatory compliance within manufacturing.
  • Excellent problem-solving and Root Cause Analysis skills.
  • Strong communication, planning and organisational abilities.
  • A proactive approach to continuous improvement and team development.
  • Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement methodologies.
  • IOSH or Health & Safety qualification.
  • Knowledge of GMP, ISO 13485 and FDA regulated environments.
  • Experience supporting PLC-controlled equipment, automation and robotics.
