Qualifications

Project Design Manager

Tier 1 M&E Contractor

€120K salary

SSA are working with a leading international M&E Contractor seeking an experienced Project Design Manager to join their team in Dublin.

This is a senior opportunity with a well-established engineering contractor, working on a significant portfolio of projects with a strong pipeline of work for the next 5+ years.

The successful candidate will have a strong electrical engineering background, extensive data centre experience and proven experience managing design teams and coordinating multiple technical disciplines across large-scale projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the design delivery of large-scale data centre and mission-critical projects.
• Manage multidisciplinary design teams, ensuring projects are delivered to programme, budget and required quality standards.
• Coordinate electrical design packages and work closely with mechanical, CSA, fire, security and other disciplines.
• Manage and coordinate multiple project sub-packages from design development through to construction and commissioning.
• Review and manage design deliverables, ensuring compliance with project specifications, standards and client requirements.
• Lead design coordination meetings with internal teams, consultants, subcontractors and clients.
• Identify and resolve design clashes, technical issues and interface requirements across disciplines.
• Coordinate with construction and commissioning teams to ensure designs are practical and aligned with site requirements.
• Manage design programmes, deliverables, resources and key project milestones.
• Provide technical leadership and support to engineers and design teams.
• Assist with technical submissions, value engineering, design changes and project documentation.
• Ensure all design activities comply with relevant regulations, codes, standards and project requirements.
• Work closely with senior management and project stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
• Travel domestically and internationally where required.

Requirements

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline.
• Strong electrical engineering background with significant experience in the construction/design sector.
• Proven data centre / mission-critical experience is essential.
• Typically 5–10+ years' experience within data centre design, engineering, construction or commissioning.
• Proven experience managing and leading design teams.
• Strong understanding of electrical systems and associated MEP building services.
• Experience managing and coordinating multiple project sub-packages and interfaces.
• Experience working across multidisciplinary engineering and construction teams.
• Strong understanding of Design & Build projects and the wider construction process.
• Experience working on large-scale projects, ideally €100m+ in value.
• Strong understanding of design coordination, construction sequencing and commissioning.
• Excellent communication, organisational and leadership skills.
• Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and deliver within a fast-paced project environment.
• Proficiency with relevant design and coordination software such as AutoCAD, Revit and Navisworks.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally when required.
