Job summary

Herlihys Centra in Cork is seeking a full-time Duty Manager to oversee daily store operations, maintain high merchandising standards, and ensure a welcoming, safe environment for customers.

You will lead and support staff, plan shifts, monitor cash handling and tills, manage stock control, and help resolve issues while upholding company policies and delivering excellent customer service.

Qualifications

• Experience in retail or hospitality supervision or management, with strong people leadership and team coordination skills.
• Proficiency in day-to-day store operations, including cash handling, till oversight, stock control, and merchandising.
• Strong customer service, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills, with a focus on creating a positive shopper experience.
• Good organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage busy, fast-paced shifts.
• Clear and professional communication skills, with the ability to brief, motivate, and support a diverse team.
• Comfort with basic IT systems and point-of-sale technology; willingness to learn new systems and processes.
• Reliable and flexible approach to work, including availability for varied shift patterns, weekends, and peak trading periods.
• Previous experience as a Duty Manager, Supervisor, or Team Leader in a retail environment is an advantage.
• Relevant training or qualifications in retail, business, or management are beneficial but not essential.

Role Description The Duty Manager is a full-time, on-site role based at Herlihys Centra in Cork. This role oversees the daily store operations, ensuring shelves are well stocked, merchandising standards are maintained, and the store environment is clean, safe, and welcoming. The Duty Manager supports and guides store colleagues, manages shift planning, monitors performance, and helps resolve operational issues as they arise. Responsibilities include supervising cash handling and tills, ensuring adherence to company policies, and promoting consistent, high-quality customer service. The Duty Manager also assists with opening and closing procedures, supports stock control and waste management, and communicates store priorities and updates to the team and senior management.
