Qualifications

• Knowledge of TII Publications, DMURS, and Irish design standards is desirable.

• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.

Responsibilities

Job description

Our client is seeking an experienced Design/Project Engineer to join their Kilkenny office. This is a senior role offering the opportunity to contribute to major civil, road, and transportation projects while working within a highly skilled and supportive team.

Role Overview

You will play a key part in the preparation and delivery of design projects, from feasibility studies through to detailed design, procurement, and contract administration. The role requires strong technical knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and review feasibility and preliminary designs and reports
• Produce detailed and contract drawings using MX Roads or Civil 3D
• Liaise with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory authorities
• Manage procurement of sub-consultants, site investigations, and road contracts (including pricing schedules and bills of quantities)
• Prepare and assess tenders, and administer construction contracts
• Ensure projects are delivered on time, to specification, and within budget

Requirements

• Level 8 Honours Degree in Civil Engineering (Engineers Ireland accredited or equivalent)
• Level 9 Master’s Degree an advantage
• 5+ years’ relevant experience (civil, roads, or transportation projects)
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Office, and MX Roads/Civil 3D
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
• Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills

Desirable

• Knowledge of TII Publications, DMURS, and Irish design standards
• Experience in contract administration and tender processes
