Job summary

Sigmar Recruitment's client is seeking a driven Design Engineer to support major infrastructure projects from tender stage through to construction, across water and wastewater, Power/ESB, roads and NTA infra.

You will coordinate design inputs, manage consultants, develop proposals and support mobilisation, construction and completion, working with internal and external teams to ensure designs are constructible, on time and meet project requirements.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in a Design Engineer, Civil Engineer or Design Coordination role.
• Degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• Experience within infrastructure, utilities or civil engineering projects.
• Exposure to Water and wastewater, Power/ESB, Roads and NTA projects is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Review RFP and tender documentation and coordinate pricing inputs from consultants and subcontractors.
• Develop design proposals, programmes and methodologies for tender submissions.
• Coordinate design inputs across water and wastewater, Power/ESB, roads and NTA infrastructure projects.
• Organise and manage site surveys and design deliverables during project mobilisation.
• Liaise with internal engineering, construction and design teams to ensure timely progress and provide constructability input.
• Manage consultant and designer deliverables throughout the project lifecycle.
• Support planning, permitting and CPO processes where required.
• Manage and submit design change orders and project progress updates.
• Present developed designs at key project milestones and finalise documentation for construction.
• Provide ongoing design coordination and technical support throughout the construction phase.
• Liaise with clients, consultants, contractors and other project stakeholders to ensure effective project delivery.
• Ensure design information is coordinated and suitable for construction.

Job description

Our client is seeking a driven and detail-oriented Design Engineer to support the delivery of major infrastructure projects from tender stage through to construction. The role will sit across a range of projects within the business, including water and wastewater, Power/ESB, roads and NTA infrastructure.

You will be involved in coordinating design inputs, managing consultant and subcontractor deliverables, developing design proposals and supporting projects through mobilisation, construction and completion. The role will involve working closely with internal engineering and construction teams, external designers, consultants, clients and other stakeholders to ensure designs are delivered on time, are practical to construct and meet project requirements.

This is a strong opportunity for a Civil Engineer or Design Engineer with 2+ years’ experience who is looking to develop their career within a large infrastructure environment and gain exposure to a broad range of utility and civil engineering projects.

Requirements

• 2+ years’ experience in a Design Engineer, Civil Engineer or Design Coordination role.
• Degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• Experience within infrastructure, utilities or civil engineering projects.
• Exposure to one or more of the following would be beneficial:
• Water and wastewater projects
• Power/ESB projects
• Roads and NTA projects
• Utility infrastructure
• Strong understanding of the design and construction process.
• Good organisational and communication skills.
• Ability to coordinate multiple design inputs and manage project deadlines.
• Proficiency in MS Office.
• Experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D and/or GIS.
• Ability to work effectively with internal teams, consultants, contractors and clients.
• Full driving licence would be beneficial.
