Job summary

GMC Utilities Group in Ireland is seeking a design engineer to support the design process from tender through construction on Power/ESB projects. You will coordinate design inputs, manage consultant deliverables, engage with clients and support internal teams across all project phases.

The role emphasizes delivering timely, compliant designs, coordinating with engineering and field teams, and contributing to project milestones with strong communication and organisational skills.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years’ experience in a design coordination or civil engineering role.
  • Experience working on Power/ ESB projects.
  • Familiarity with utility infrastructure projects, Power/ESB Projects.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office; AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GIS.

Responsibilities

  • Review RFP documentation and coordinate pricing from consultants and subcontractors.
  • Develop design proposals, programmes, and methodologies for submission.
  • Organise and manage site surveys and design deliverables during project mobilisation.
  • Liaise with internal teams and designers to ensure timely progress and constructability input.
  • Support planning, permitting, and CPO processes as needed.
  • Manage and submit design change orders and progress updates.
  • Present developed designs at key milestones and finalise documentation for construction.
  • Provide ongoing design coordination and support during the construction phase.

Job description

The Role.

We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and drivenDesign Engineerto support the design process from tender stage through to construction on Power/ESB Projects.

This role involves coordinating design inputs, managing consultant deliverables, engaging with clients, and supporting internal teams across all project phases.

Key Duties and Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

The Candidate: Required Experience and Competencies:

  • Experience working on Power/ ESB projects.
  • Familiarity with utility infrastructure projects, Power/ESB Projects.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office; AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GIS.
