Job summary

Planet is seeking a Technical Delivery Manager - Database to own delivery, service quality and day-to-day running of its database estate across SQL Server, Oracle and MySQL, on-premises and cloud platforms. This hands-on role coordinates with our managed service partner and internal teams to land changes safely and efficiently.

You will drive change, incident management, cost optimisation and audit readiness, while maintaining strong governance and stakeholder communications across multi-cloud

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a technical delivery, service delivery or database management role.
• Hands-on DBA background with SQL Server, Oracle and MySQL across on-premises and cloud.
• Experience managing a managed service provider or outsourced tower and SLAs.
• ITIL-aligned service management: incident, problem and change management.
• Experience owning backup, recovery, HA and DR arrangements and evidencing them against RTO/RPO.
• Infrastructure cost optimisation with storage right-sizing and decommissioning.
• Knowledge of PCI DSS and regulatory compliance with audit evidence.
• Excellent stakeholder management and written communication.
• Ability to coordinate multiple concurrent workstreams.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end database service delivery across the estate.
• Triage demand and manage the database ticket queue.
• Plan change and maintenance calendars with CAB.
• Lead incident and escalation to resolution.
• Govern the managed service partner and SLAs.
• Drive cost reduction for the database estate.
• Ensure backup, DR and HA readiness.
• Support PCI DSS compliance and audit readiness.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on database considerations.
