Job summary

Ocuco Ltd in Dublin 15 is seeking an experienced Lead Database Administrator to join our Database Team. This is a hands-on leadership role with responsibility for the day-to-day management and development of team members, ensuring reliability, performance and continuous improvement of both customer and internal database environments.

You will oversee database maintenance, performance, recovery activities, and schema/script work, while establishing best practices through mentoring and knowledge

Qualifications

• 8+ years' commercial Oracle DBA experience across Windows and Linux/Unix.
• 5+ years' experience with Oracle RAC.
• Experience working in an IT development environment.
• Excellent SQL and PL/SQL skills.
• Hands-on Oracle database configuration and administration.
• Experience with Azure SQL Database.
• Strong ability to diagnose database performance issues.
• Experience carrying out preventative database maintenance.
• Experience using bulk data transfer methods.

Responsibilities

• Team coordination: Lead and coordinate the work of Database Administrators and Data Engineers, working closely with the Operations Director on priorities.
• People leadership: Provide day-to-day line management for members of the Database Team, including performance management and coaching.
• Knowledge development: Provide technical guidance and mentoring and establish knowledge-transfer practices.
• Database ownership: Own customer and internal database requirements ensuring reliability and service quality.
• Database administration: Manage configuration, maintenance, recovery and performance-tuning across hosted and remote environments.
• Performance and resilience: Diagnose issues and implement effective solutions for resilience and capacity planning.
• Schema and scripting: Maintain schemas and migration scripts across the product range.
• Data management: Write and review SQL/PLSQL/T-SQL to manipulate and transfer data.
• Technical collaboration: Work with Development, Operations and Support on database-related needs.
• Support enablement: Mentor Support Engineers and promote best practices.
