Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced Lead Oracle DBA to manage a team of Database Administrators and Data Engineers in Ireland. You will work with the Operations Director on priorities, scheduling, resource planning, and workload management while providing coaching and mentorship.

You will own maintenance, tuning, disaster recovery, and capacity planning across on‑premises and cloud environments, write SQL/PLSQL scripts, and collaborate across Development, Operations and Support to ensure

• Demonstrated experience leading and developing technical team members.
• 8+ years’ commercial Oracle DBA experience covering database design, development and performance.
• Hands-on Oracle database configuration and administration.
• Experience with Oracle 11g or later across Windows and Linux/Unix environments.

Job description

• Lead and coordinate Database Administrators and Data Engineers
• Work with the Operations Director on team priorities, scheduling, resource planning, and workload management
• Provide day-to-day line management, performance management, development, and coaching
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring
• Own and manage a structured knowledge-transfer framework
• Take overall responsibility for customer and internal database reliability, availability, performance, and service quality
• Manage database configuration, maintenance, recovery, preventative maintenance, and performance tuning across hosted and remote customer environments
• Diagnose database performance issues and implement solutions
• Contribute to database recovery, resilience, and capacity planning
• Maintain database schemas, migration scripts, and maintenance scripts
• Write, review, and execute SQL, PL/SQL, and T-SQL scripts to manipulate, load, extract, and transfer data
• Collaborate with Development, Operations, and Support teams on database requirements, changes, and technical issues
• Mentor Ocuco Support Engineers and promote database best practices

Requirements

• Demonstrated experience leading and developing technical team members, including people-management responsibilities
• 8+ years’ commercial Oracle DBA experience covering database design, development and performance
• Experience with Oracle 11g or later across Windows and Linux/Unix environments
• 5+ years’ experience with Oracle RAC
• 5+ years’ experience working within an IT development environment
• Excellent SQL and PL/SQL skills
• Hands-on experience in Oracle database configuration and administration
• Experience working with Azure SQL Database
• Strong ability to diagnose database performance issues and implement effective solutions
• Experience carrying out preventative database maintenance
• Experience using bulk data transfer methods
• Knowledge of Oracle Multimaster Replication
• Experience with Oracle Data Guard
• Advanced Linux/Unix knowledge
• Knowledge of Python and/or Perl
• Experience working with cloud or SaaS technologies
• Advanced SQL tuning experience
• Data modelling experience
