Job summary

Astreya in Dublin, Ireland, is seeking a Data Center Technician II to support reliable data center operations. The role involves hands-on installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and decommissioning of data center equipment, following SOPs and safety standards.

You will work in a client data center, collaborating with teams, maintaining up-to-date documentation, and assisting less experienced technicians.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with 3–5 years of related experience.
• Understanding of Data Center best practices (i.e. basic fault tolerance, cable routing, calculating power usage).
• Knowledge of data-center electrical, HVAC, and bandwidth infrastructures as well as fiber/copper topologies.
• Understanding of networking components and infrastructures.
• Experience with cable management and knowledge of how to run fiber and copper in a data center.
• Able to operate material handling equipment – server lifts, pallet jacks, and forklifts (if certified).
• Ability to cable systems (power/copper/fiber/other) correctly based on ticket requirements and SOP standards.
• Knowledge of copper and fiber testers.
• Effectively utilize the ticket management systems.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

Responsibilities

• Working in Client’s Data center, providing 24x7 technical support.
• Installing, moving, maintaining, and decommissioning hardware including cabinets, shelves, power strips, rails, fiber/copper/other cables, servers, storage, and other data center devices.
• Confirm, identify, and label devices, racks, and cables for accuracy and compliance with standards.
• Work within a ticketing system, providing clear, timely communications to customers and stakeholders.
• Maintain documentation of work performed, including updates to records, diagrams, inventory, and logs.
• Follow SOPs, program policies, safety policies, and security requirements while meeting quality standards.
• Perform routine and moderately complex troubleshooting of data center hardware, cabling, power, and connectivity issues, escalating when needed.
• Collaborate with other technicians, engineering teams, and site operations teams to complete tasks.
• Provide day-to-day technical support and knowledge sharing to less experienced technicians.
• Identify potential issues and opportunities for improving efficiency, quality, safety and documentation.
• Support onboarding of new team members by sharing knowledge of procedures.
• Demonstrate commitment to safety, quality, security and standards in all activities.
• Escalate complex issues to senior technicians or leadership as appropriate.
• Maintain professional relationships with customers, vendors, and internal teams.
• Other duties as required.
