Job summary

O’Neill & Brennan are recruiting a Commercial Manager in Meath to oversee the commercial function, drive profitability and contribute to growth. The role entails leading the Commercial Department, managing budgets, contracts and risk, and maintaining key client relationships.

The ideal candidate will have a degree in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management, extensive senior experience in construction commercial management, and strong negotiation and stakeholder skills.

Overview:

O’Neill & Brennan are currently recruiting an experienced Commercial Manager on behalf of our client, a leading contractor. This is a senior management position with responsibility for overseeing the commercial function and supporting the company’s continued growth and profitability.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage the Commercial Department, setting performance objectives and driving continuous improvement.
• Oversee project financial performance, including cost planning, budgeting, forecasting, margins and cash flow.
• Develop and implement commercial strategies aligned with company and project objectives.
• Oversee the preparation, negotiation and management of major contracts and subcontracts.
• Identify and manage commercial and contractual risks, implementing appropriate mitigation strategies. Support key client relationships and represent the company at external meetings and negotiations.

Requirements:

• Degree qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or a related discipline.
• Proven experience in a senior Commercial Management position within the construction industry.
• Previous experience managing and developing commercial teams.
• Strong understanding of project financial management, contracts and commercial reporting.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities with a pragmatic approach.
