Job summary

Turmec is seeking a skilled CAD/CAM/CNC specialist to support nesting, toolpath generation, and drawing interpretation on site. You will create CNC nesting, generate cut lists, print workshop drawings, and coordinate with production to optimise processes.

Ideal candidates will have hands-on CAD/CAM software experience, CNC programming and strong documentation skills, with ability to work independently or with teams in a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Hands-on CAD/CAM proficiency with industry software.
• Experience setting up, programming and operating CNC machines.
• Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and documents.

Responsibilities

• Use CAD/CAM software (Sigmanest) to generate toolpaths for CNC machines.
• Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints and technical specifications.
• Create CNC Nesting and promptly issue to the floor.
• Create saw cut lists from drawings, print all drawings, enter details into cut lists, prepare cover sheets.
• Print and issue workshop drawings to the production floor.
• Collaborate with production to optimise machining processes and improve efficiency; prepare and issue production lists and ensure material requisitions are on time.
• Record keeping and data input to ensure traceability of all products manufactured.

Job description

Key Responsibilities:

• Utilise CAD/CAM software (Sigmanest) to generate toolpaths for CNC machines
• Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints and technical specifications
• Create CNC Nesting and promptly issue to the floor
• Create saw cut lists for the workshop floor from engineering drawings issued to production, this includes printing all drawings, entering all detail into separate cut lists and preparing cover sheets in line with production schedules and specifications
• Print and issue workshop drawings to the production floor
• Collaborate with production teams to optimise machining processes and improve efficiencyPrepare and issue production lists and ensure material requisitions are completed accurately and on time
• Record keeping and data input, ensuring the traceability of all products manufactured

Key Attributes

• CAD/CAM proficiency - Hands-on experience with CAD/CAM software (Sigmanest, ProNest, Alphacam or similar)
• CNC Experience - A background in setting up, programming and operating CNC machines (mills, lathes, routers etc.
• Previous experience working in a manufacturing or industrial environment
• Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and technical documents
• Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise effectively across multiple projects
• Confident communicator with excellent verbal and written skills
• Self-motivated and able to work independently as well as collaboratively
• Proficient in project documentation and administration
• Proficient in Microsoft Packages including Access
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD is advantageous
