Job summary

Herbertstown Revival Association is seeking a Bar Manager to lead a newly established pub in Herbertstown, Co Limerick. You will run operations with support from a local community group and report to managing directors, collaborating with committees on marketing, development, and operations.

You will hire and train staff, manage rotas, monitor costs, ensure compliance with licensing and safety standards, and coordinate events to drive revenue.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on supervisory or management experience in a busy Irish pub, bar, or F&B environment.
• Proven ability to lead staff, manage budgets, and uphold service standards.

Responsibilities

Job description

We have an opening for a Bar Manager in a pub based in Herbertstown, Co Limerick. This vacancy is a unique opportunity to run a newly established bar with support from a group of people in the local community who came together to purchase the local pub known as The Herbertstown Revival Association.

Reporting directly to the (managing directors), you will also be expected to work collectively with the groups appointed committees regarding marketing, development and operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Staff Management & Operations:

• Hire, train, and supervise bar and floor team members.
• Prepare weekly staff rotas and manage shift cover based on seasonal and peak business flow.
• Conduct performance reviews, offer ongoing mentorship, and manage employee relations.

Stock & Inventory Control:

• Monitor stock levels and place regular orders for beverages, dry goods, and bar supplies.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with local and national suppliers.
• Conduct routine stock takes, track product performance, minimize waste, and manage pour costs within budget.

Compliance & Licensing:

• Ensure full adherence to Irish intoxicating liquor laws and regulations.
• Maintain strict health, safety, and hygiene standards throughout the premises.
• Oversee responsible beverage service standards and uphold strict cash-handling procedures.

Financial & Customer Relations:

• Monitor financial performance, manage labor costs, and operate within agreed budgets.
• Provide warm, hands‑on customer service and resolve patron feedback professionally.
• Plan and coordinate local events, live music sessions, and promotional activities.

Requirements:

• Experience: +5 years of hands‑on supervisory or management experience in a busy Irish pub, bar, or F&B environment.

Skills:

• Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
• Excellent organizational skills and financial awareness (P&L/budgeting awareness).
• In-depth knowledge of beverage products, including draught beer maintenance, spirits, and wine service.
• Licensing & Training: Solid familiarity with Irish alcohol licensing laws and up-to-date food safety/HACCP and health & safety training.
