The National Treasury Management Agency (NTMA) provides asset and liability management services to the Irish Government. It has evolved from a single function agency managing the National Debt to a manager of a complex portfolio of public assets and liabilities.
Businesses managed by the NTMA include borrowing on behalf of the Government and the management of the National Debt, the State Claims Agency, the New Economy and Recovery Authority (“NewERA”), the Ireland Strategic Investment Fund, National Development Finance Agency and the NTMA Future Ireland Funds business unit with responsibility for the management of the Future Ireland Fund and Infrastructure, Climate and Nature Fund.
The NTMA also assigns staff to the Strategic Banking Corporation of Ireland (SBCI) and Home Building Finance Ireland (HBFI).
This is an exciting opportunity for talented and motivated graduates to join the Continuous Improvement and Artificial Intelligence (CI AI)unit of the NTMA on a 23-month Associate Programme commencing in September 2027. The programme is open to graduates with a degree in Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science / Analytics or a related discipline.
The Continuous Improvement and Artificial Intelligence (CI AI) unit supports the NTMA in identifying, assessing and delivering opportunities to improve business processes, enhance operational efficiency and responsibly adopt artificial intelligence. The unit works with business areas across the organisation to assess AI opportunities, support the delivery of the NTMA AI strategy, assist in the design of practical AI-enabled solutions, and ensure that initiatives are aligned with appropriate governance and control requirements.
The Associate will support the business unit through day-to-day duties including but not limited to:
At the end of the programme the successful Associate will have developed a solid knowledge base of the CI AI unit and the wider NTMA.
Typically, Associates within this business unit also undertake professional qualifications such as post graduate diplomas / certificates in AI, Analytics or Data Science related areas. They are supported through the full range of NTMA study supports, complemented by a comprehensive Associate Development Programme, an Associate network spanning the NTMA, and extensive on-the-job learning opportunities.

Successful candidates will have a minimum of a 2.1 honours degree or a minimum of a 2.1 Masters, ideally in a related discipline.
