Job summary

GMC Utilities Group in Dublin is seeking an experienced Assistant Yard Manager to join our busy yard. You will help manage stores, receive and issue materials, and ensure safe, efficient operations on site.

This hands-on role suits someone with yard or builder’s provider experience, forklift licence, and strong stock control skills. You will work with the Stores & Yard Manager and site teams to keep materials ready for projects and maintain safety standards across the yard.

Qualifications

• Valid Forklift Licence required.
• Strong stock control and goods-in/goods-out procedures.
• Experience in builder’s provider, construction yard, or similar environment preferred.
• Supervisory or team-lead experience is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Stores Manager with the daily operation and organisation of the stores and yard.
• Support the receipt, checking and storage of deliveries.
• Ensure materials, tools, plant and equipment are correctly stored and easily accessible.
• Issue materials and equipment to site teams as required.
• Maintain accurate stock levels and assist with regular stock checks and inventories.
• Monitor stock movements and report shortages, damaged goods or discrepancies.
• Operate forklifts and other yard equipment safely and efficiently.
• Ensure the yard and stores are kept clean, organised and safe at all times.
• Assist with loading and unloading deliveries.
• Coordinate with suppliers, drivers, site teams and internal departments.
• Assist with the organisation and preparation of materials for upcoming projects.
• Ensure company tools, equipment and materials are properly maintained and accounted for.
• Follow all health & safety procedures and ensure safe working practices are maintained.
• Assist with supervising and coordinating stores and yard personnel when required.
• Support the Stores Manager with general administration, record keeping and reporting.
• Carry out other duties as required to support the efficient running of the stores and yard.
