Job summary

Le Boat is seeking an Assistant Base Manager F/M in Carrick-On-Shannon, Ireland, to support daily operations, customer service, and fleet readiness. You will work under the Base Manager to ensure top standards, assist with revenue opportunities, and help lead the team during the busy season.

The role offers potential progression to a Base Manager position and requires a hands-on, customer-focused approach with weekend/holiday availability.

Qualifications

• Customer-focused with a strong service mindset.

• Good computer skills, including MS Office; training on internal cash and booking systems will be provided.
• Full driving licence (Category B) required; living within commuting distance to the Carrick-on-Shannon base.
• Fully eligible to work in Ireland.

Responsibilities

• Assist Base Manager in organising the base and planning each week.
• Instruct and support the team with boat cleaning, sanitising and prep to company standards.
• Help manage local income and identify opportunities to optimise revenue and meet sales targets.
• Prepare fleet for winter storage and support spring opening.
• Ensure boats are provisioned before departure and handle customer requests.
• Report operational deficiencies to Base Manager and Head Technician.
• Train reception staff and assist with reception duties.
• Support Base Manager in achieving business KPIs.
• Be flexible to work weekends and holidays during the summer season.

We are looking for an Assistant Base Manager to join our team, with the opportunity to progress into a Base Manager position, ideally from the next season.

At a glance

Reporting to the Base Manager, you will support the day-to-day running of the Carrick-On-Shannon base, ensuring excellent customer service, operational standards, fleet condition and team performance.

What you will be doing

• Work closely with the Base Manager to organise the base and plan each working week.
• Instruct and support the team with boat cleaning, sanitising and preparation to company standards.
• Help manage local income and identify opportunities to optimise revenue and meet sales targets.
• Prepare the fleet for winter storage and support the spring season opening.
• Ensure boats are correctly provisioned before departure, including customer requests.
• Report boat or operational deficiencies to the Base Manager and Head Technician.
• Train reception staff and assist with reception duties throughout the season.
• Support the Base Manager in achieving business KPIs.
• Be flexible to work weekends and holidays during the summer season.

Customer service

• Ensure customers receive a warm, professional welcome and that onsite services are organised and efficient.
• Ensure pre- and post-departure procedures are followed and best practice is maintained.
• Handle customer requests and complaints through to resolution, working with the Base Manager and Regional Manager on serious incidents.
• Collect customer feedback and support the achievement of NPS targets.

Finance & administration

• Maintain base accounts, accounting documents and the reception cash system.
• Support management of working hours and variable wage elements for the team.
• Monitor the base budget and identify opportunities for optimisation.
• Manage day-to-day administration and relationships with local partners and suppliers.
• Maintain good relationships with the local community.
• Support the Base Manager with monthly reporting.

Fleet & base

• Ensure boat identity documents are compliant.
• Monitor fleet condition, maintenance, interiors and cleanliness against company standards.
• Follow company procedures and report accidents or incidents.
• Ensure the base is clean, welcoming and well organised.
• Assist with breakdown planning during the season.

Team

• Ensure staff carry out their duties correctly and maintain high presentation standards.
• Train reception and operational staff on tasks and procedures.
• Help plan staffing according to bookings and departures.
• Ensure correct uniform and health & safety procedures are followed.
• Support staff development and conflict resolution in collaboration with the Base and Regional Managers.
