Job summary

Sheridans Cheesemongers Ltd. in Douglas is hiring a part-time Cheesemonger for 8–16 hours per week. No prior cheesemongering experience is required, just a passion for food, great conversation, and a willingness to learn.

We offer full in-house training, exposure to Irish and European artisan foods, and real opportunities for career progression within the company. A great staff discount on Sheridans products is also included.

Qualifications

• Previous retail or food experience is helpful but not essential.
• Strong interest in artisan food, cheese, and local producers.
• Friendly, confident communication and listening skills.
• Positive, outgoing personality.
• Ability to stay organised and calm in a busy environment.
• Good attention to detail.
• Self-motivated and happy working as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Welcome customers and deliver excellent service in a lively retail setting.
• Share knowledge about Irish and European artisan cheeses, foods, and producers.
• Recommend flavours, pairings, and products with confidence.
• Care for cheese to present and sell it at its best.
• Maintain attractive product displays and signage throughout the day.
• Receive deliveries and organise stock correctly.
• Support stock rotation and reduce waste.
• Maintain food safety standards, HACCP records, and allergen awareness.
• Keep counters, fridges, and storage areas clean and well organised.
• Assist with seasonal displays, including hampers.
