Job summary

Mastercard seeks an L5 Principal AI Engineer embedded within the BET organization in Dublin to lead technology strategy for new business opportunities, assess feasibility, and shape architecture across cross‑functional teams.

You will mentor engineers, drive scalable designs, and align with security and reliability standards while exploring AI‑enabled capabilities and responsible innovation.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of full‑stack engineering in an agile environment.
• Experience building distributed, production‑grade software systems.
• Backend development with Java/Kotlin/Python/Scala or similar.
• Leading design and delivery of large, cross‑team features.
• Strong API, services, and distributed systems knowledge.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Databricks, Snowflake).
• Mentoring engineers and influencing architectural decisions.
• Collaborative across geographies and roles.

Responsibilities

• Serve as senior technology and architecture advisor for new opportunities.
• Partner with product, business, sourcing and engineering teams to shape hypotheses and early feasibility.
• Evaluate ideas and market signals to identify technology opportunities.
• Assess build, partner, invest, or acquire pathways with clear technical recommendations.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to engineering standards and decisions.
• Ensure solutions align with Mastercard security, reliability, and scale requirements.
