Job summary

Barden | B Corp in Ireland seeks a qualified Financial Accountant on a 12-month fixed-term contract to join a fast-growing renewable energy business active across multiple European markets.

The role covers accounting and financial reporting for a portfolio of entities, close processes, journal entries, reconciliations, statutory filings, and collaboration with treasury, investment teams, and external advisors. A recently qualified accountant building practice is encouraged.

Qualifications

• Professional qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA).
• Practice-trained with at least 1 year of industry experience.
• Strong technical accounting and financial reporting knowledge.
• Excellent organisational and time management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and tight deadlines.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of accounting and financial reporting for legal entities within the region.
• Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes and deadlines.
• Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, prepayments, and month-end adjustments.
• Complete balance sheet reconciliations and investigate reconciling items.
• Prepare subledger-to-general ledger reconciliations (AP, AR, fixed assets, intercompany).
• Ensure compliance with local accounting standards, tax legislation, and statutory reporting.
• Coordinate annual statutory financial statements and interact with auditors and external advisors.
• Prepare VAT returns and other regulatory filings.
• Review monthly financial performance and variances against budget and prior periods.
• Collaborate with Treasury and Investment teams on lender and financing reporting.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a qualified Financial Accountant to join a fast-growing renewable energy business on a 12-month fixed-term contract. Operating across multiple European markets, the organisation is involved in the development, construction, financing, and management of utility-scale renewable energy projects.

This is a broad and commercially focused role offering exposure to all aspects of the finance function. The successful candidate will take ownership of the accounting and financial reporting activities for a portfolio of entities while partnering with stakeholders across finance, treasury, investment management, and external advisors.

This position would suit a recently qualified accountant looking to build on their practice and industry experience within a dynamic international environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Take ownership of accounting and financial reporting activities for legal entities within an assigned region.
• Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process, ensuring reporting deadlines are met.
• Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, prepayments, and month-end adjustments.
• Complete balance sheet reconciliations and investigate any reconciling items.
• Prepare and review subledger-to-general ledger reconciliations, including AP, AR, fixed assets, and intercompany accounts.
• Ensure compliance with local accounting standards, tax legislation, and statutory reporting requirements.
• Coordinate the preparation of annual statutory financial statements and act as a key contact for auditors and external advisors.
• Prepare VAT returns, withholding tax submissions, and other regulatory filings.
• Review and analyse monthly financial performance, providing insight into significant variances against budget and prior periods.
• Collaborate with Treasury and Investment teams to ensure all lender and financing reporting requirements are met.
• Support acquisitions, restructurings, finance projects, and business initiatives.
• Identify opportunities to enhance financial processes, controls, and reporting efficiency.
• Build strong relationships with auditors, accountants, legal advisors, business development teams, and investment partners.
• Assist with ad hoc reporting and project work as required.

About You

You are a motivated and commercially aware finance professional with strong technical accounting skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

• Professionally qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA).
• Practice-trained with at least 1 year of industry experience.
• Strong technical accounting and financial reporting knowledge.
• Excellent organisational and time management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work to tight deadlines.

• Fluent English, both written and verbal.
