Job summary

Excel Recruitment is assisting a leading international construction and engineering organisation in Dublin West to recruit a Financial Accountant. The role offers exposure to multiple entities and jurisdictions, reporting to the Finance Director, with a strong emphasis on technical accounting and business partnering.

The ideal candidate is ACCA/ACA qualified with at least 2 years PQE, capable of delivering accurate monthly reporting, and driving process improvements within a fast-paced finance

Qualifications

• ACCA or ACA qualified and PQE 2+ years in industry.
• Practice-trained with strong technical accounting skills.
• Experience in month-end close, consolidation and reporting.
• Ability to partner with senior stakeholders and drive improvements.

Responsibilities

• Support month-end and year-end close processes across multiple entities.
• Prepare monthly Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet reporting.
• Perform detailed balance sheet reconciliations including intercompany accounts.
• Manage bank reconciliations, cashflow reporting and payroll support.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and statutory accounts preparation.
• Produce KPI reports and management information for senior leadership.
• Assist with finance transformation initiatives and mentoring juniors.

Our client is a leading international construction and engineering organisation employing over 1,000 people across Europe. With operations spanning 9 countries and a strong track record of delivering large-scale construction, infrastructure and engineering projects, the business continues to experience significant growth and expansion.

As a result of continued success, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Financial Accountant to join their finance team in Dublin West. Reporting directly to the Finance Director, this role offers exposure to multiple entities and jurisdictions, providing an excellent opportunity for a qualified accountant looking to further develop their career within a dynamic, fast-paced and commercially focused environment.

This position is ideally suited to a practice-trained accountant who enjoys working in a growing business, partnering with senior stakeholders and contributing to the development of a best-in-class finance function.

• This is a fully on-site position requiring attendance 5 days per week.
• Due to the busy and operational nature of the business, close collaboration with senior leadership, operational teams and finance colleagues is essential.
• The office is located in Dublin West, where public transport does not adequately service the area.
• Candidates must have their own transport and a full driving licence to commute to and from the site.
• Visa sponsorship or work permit sponsorship is not available for this position. Applicants must have the unrestricted right to live and work in Ireland and must not require sponsorship now or at any stage in the future.

Key Responsibilities

• Support month-end and year-end close processes across multiple entities.
• Prepare and manage monthly Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet reporting.
• Perform detailed balance sheet reconciliations, including intercompany accounts.
• Manage bank reconciliations, cashflow reporting and payroll support activities.
• Reconcile and analyse key costs across business units, providing insight and recommendations to budget holders.
• Assist with annual budgeting, forecasting and financial planning processes.
• Support the preparation of statutory accounts and liaise with external auditors.
• Produce monthly KPI reports and management information for senior leadership teams.
• Deliver ad hoc financial reporting and analysis to support business decisions.
• Identify opportunities to improve financial controls, reporting accuracy and process efficiency.
• Support finance transformation projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Assist with the development and mentoring of junior finance team members.
• ACA or ACCA qualified.
• Practice-trained background with strong technical accounting expertise.
• Minimum 2 years' post-qualified experience (PQE) within industry.
• Experience preparing management accounts and financial reports.
• Strong balance sheet reconciliation and month-end accounting experience.
• Experience supporting budgeting, forecasting and statutory accounting processes.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Strong commercial awareness and business acumen.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to build effective working relationships across all levels of the organisation.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Proactive, hands-on and solutions-focused approach.
• Full driving licence and access to own transport.
