Job summary

The Salthill Hotel in Galway is seeking an Accommodation Porter to support the housekeeping team and ensure guest rooms and public areas are clean and well-maintained. This is a physically active role behind the scenes, contributing to the hotel's high standards of cleanliness and service.

Key duties include delivering linen and amenities, transporting laundry, assisting with turnover, and helping staff with luggage as needed.

Qualifications

• Ability to work as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Basic communication skills (English typically required).
• Previous hotel or cleaning experience.
• Knowledge of health & safety and hygiene standards.

Responsibilities

• Assist room attendants by stripping beds and removing used linen.
• Deliver fresh linen, towels, and amenities to guest rooms.
• Collect and transport laundry, rubbish, and recycling.
• Replenish housekeeping trolleys and storage areas.
• Help prepare rooms for new arrivals (turnover support).
• Move beds, furniture, and extra items (e.g., cots, rollaway beds).
• Ensure corridors, service areas, and linen rooms are tidy.
• Respond to guest requests (e.g., extra pillows, towels, blankets).
• Deliver items to rooms in a polite and professional manner.
• Occasionally assist with luggage or directions if required.
• Maintain cleanliness in hallways, stairwells, and service areas.
• Assist with deep cleaning tasks when needed.
